...should I purchase (name brand and size wise)? I have a whole heap-o-hair
laugh.gif
that is currently below my shoulders - 3" above bra strap. I am so sick of trying to rollerset my hair (takes about 45 minutes and my shoulders become sore
laugh.gif
). I would like to air dry in a pony tail and than flat iron it. If I do that, will it come out straight (no frizz on the ends)? Also, what products should I use to prep my hair before the ironing? And lastly, can this be done once per week? Thanks in advance.

I have a Jilbere (the smaller one). I really like it. I believe several ladies on the board have it.

I looked for it in Sally's (coop city) yesterday but couldn't find it.
1 - Do you use the smaller one so it can hit your roots better?
2 -Do you prep your hair first (meaning apply any oils, glosser, etc.).?
3 -Do you start out with air dried hair (ends "bushy" for lack of a nicer word)?
4 - Lastly, does your hair come out straight (like a rollerset but without the bump) and glossy? - LIKE the lady in your av, that's what I am looking for.

I use the smaller one because it's easier for me to handle.

I use a heat protectant before hand. I use a serum afterwards. Click on my name to see my web site for the products I use.

I let my hair air dry.

My results are straight shiny hair. Keep in mind that I do use neutral hennalucent which gives me GREAT shine. I'm sure the serum provides me with some shine too.

Thanks Allandra, you know I had to do a search on neutral hennalucent (i am NOT hair savvy

) and I think I might give this the good ole college try. My hair is naturally shiny but I also have the colourshines in it as well.

How long does it take you to flat iron your entire head? Do you section your hair (as if you were rollersetting) and run the flat iron straight down 1x or 2x? Or do you kind of round the top (roots) and than run the iron straight down - i hope that makes sense...? OR..
laugh.gif
... do you place the flat iron on your roots - hold your arms up in the air - so you run the iron thru it that way... dang, i really hope that made sense...LOLOLOL

It takes me a while to flat iron all of my hair. I don't know how long though because I've never timed it. I just part my hair in small sections and run the ceramic iron over it.

Hi CH
wave.gif
, I use the Wigo 2 1/2" Ceramic iron and I LOVE it.

I can get close to my roots and cover more area in less time because the plates are larger. I would highly recommend it. It's not the cheapest ceramic iron around, but it's worth it. I'm sure you'd love it.

For the ceramic iron UN-savvy like myself, would the WIGO be a good purchase? In other words, I have NO IDEA what I am doing, should I spend a bundle on a flat iron or start smaller (ie. Jilbere)?

CH, I assure you that it is not hard to use at all! I love it and I'm sure you would too. I purchased mine from ebay to save a few bucks. It doesn't snag, it's not heavy, and the plates are large so it doesn't take long to finish all of your hair. It's the best I've owned and I've tried the Jilbere.

Thanks Cleo. What do you put on your hair to prepare it BEFORE you flat iron and what do you use afterwards? Also, what is your hair type? TIA

CH, before I flat iron I use Elasta H-two leave-in (it has thermal protectants) and a dime size of silken seal. I don't like to put too much of any product on because I want my hair to retain as much movement as possible. This works pretty well for me.

CH, thats

. I was going to post all the questions you had because Im thinking about getting an iron as well. Does anyone know of any other thermal protectants? I dont think they carry Elasta where I go to school.

CH, sorry girl, I just noticed that I didn't answer your second question. I am mostly 4a, with 3c areas.

Gigi, another protectant to try is Heat by Paul Mitchell. It's more expensive, but works fairly well. Neutrogena makes one as well.
