What kind of advice....?

I have relaxed and permanently colored hair.

I would recommend using a fortifying shampoo each wash, alternating with moisture and protein products weekly. Protein products that also give protein like aphogee 2 minute, ion effective care treatment, redken extreme, loreal natures therapy fortifying line etc....these are all great options.

I alternate kenra moisturizing shampoo, naked naturals citrus and keratin shampoo during my weekly washes. For moisture I will use kenra MC but I only end up using this about once every 2 weeks.

Deep conditioning is vital!

I would highly suggest that they read SistaSlick's articles about the Protein and Moisture balance and how to maintain it.

What the other ladies suggested, treating your hair delicately (no roughhousing with the brush or comb)and making conditioner your friend.

-Washing your hair at least once a week is your friend. A clean scalp is a happy scalp!
-Vitamins are not overrated. I love my multivitamin, Omega 3-6-9, and my biotin!
-Moisture, Protein...A delicate balance, but worth the work.
-Treat your hair like the finest silk and it will love you for it.
-Nothing can replace a good deep conditioner.
-DRINK MORE WATER!
-Try hard not to over process your hair. Overlapping, letting a relaxer sit is not healthy for your hair.
-Many may not agree...but stay away from super strength relaxers.

I'd also stress LISTENING to your hair's needs. The steam treatment makes deep conditioning even more of a treat. My hair gets all the protein it needs from Mega Tek bi-weekly applications, with a tiny bit of silk aminos in the DC. It breaks if I add silk aminos to my water for setting lotion, though. :nono:

The final point I'd advise is to relax no more often than 5 times per year, making sure to coat the previously relaxed hair with silk aminos/conditioner prior to relaxing. HTH :yep:
