I did everything right. I followed the steps given, each step I tell you!!! I did everything right, I promise. So tell me- why is it that I thought I was going to have this rich amber hair color, my hair comes out..guess. No, guess. Guess again. No.... IT'S STILL BLACK!!! I used a gentle treatment semipermanent creme hair color and it did not come out right! Does this mean that my hair will only respond to permanent hair color?

Yep. Semi's only darken...they don't lighten. You will have to use a permanent with a developer to remove the black color from your hair and replace it with the color you want. And remember that you may not get the color that the lady has on the box. She's had her hair stripped of color, and then had the color applied.
