Do you put water, oil, and seal with a butter, or water, butter, then seal with oil? A beautician said the water, oil, then butter, but my friend said otherwise. Please let me know which way is correct?

I don't think there is a correct way it's really what your hair responds best to...for my hair I spray my hair with a water/leave in mix then apply a cream like qhemet biologics detangling ghee then seal with castor oil or use a butter like my honey child honey hair cream! Leaves my hair so yummy!!

I use the LCO layering method of moisture. L (liquid) = Komaza Califia Moisture Spritz; C (cream) = Komaza Shea Butter Lotion; O (oil) = Komaza Jojoba Hemp oil. I layer the product on lightly (daily) and end up w/uber moisture.

Three letters; LCO. These are my top combinations:

SD WGBC (L), SD CDLS (C), SD Nourish Oil in Pink Sugar
Oyin Hair Dew (L), Oyin Whipped Pudding (C), Grape Seed Oil (O)
SD Mocha Silk Hair Milk (L), SD Mocha Bling Butta (C), SD Nourish Oil in Dreamy Decadence (O)
BM Deja's Hair Milk (L), BM Luscious (C), GSO (O)

I like for the fragrance of my products to compliment each other.

I'm trying to like CR products because I can get some of them on the ground, but I'm used to only needing to M&S 2-3 times a week. I feel like I need to do so more with her products. However, they smell great!

When it's :freezing: outside nothing beats
QB AOHC, QB OHHB, and GSO the wind chill and sub zero weather will not impact your lovely locs.

Thank you ladies. I have 4c hair and I have been slacking in my moisture routine. I will try both ways and see which works. I need to get back to loving and spoiling my hair.

I typically use a conditioner mix & shea butter with deep conditioning to keep my moisture in (especially when I wear my hair out frequently). This works for me cause I have high porosity ends and use protein 2x a week and I've still been able to retain + my hair feels really soft. If my hair is straight I add a little Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1 miracle moisturizer to my ends and curl with a flexi rod so it has nice body in the morning (once/twice a week or if reversion happens).

My liquid is water. Or tea. Maybe a little oil to Soaking wet hair. Then butter OR grease. Hair still soaking.

Moisture retained 4 days easy.

For me personally, water or a tea rinse then a mixture of grapeseed oil and castor oil. I found butters too heavy and hard to wash out of my hair. My hair is fine 4b.

ETA: BTW, my hair stays moisturized for several days. As needed, I rinse my hair (which is usually in twists or braids) extremely well with water and apply oil afterwards.

I spritz each section with aloe juice and glycerin, add hello hydration or aussie moist and seal with evoo. My hair stays moisturized for a week with this method

Tea rinse....now how do you do that? What does it do to your hair?

^Soak a tea bag (green tea, spearmint tea, white tea, black tea, whatever is your fancy) in a gallon of very warm/hot water and let the bag seep for a couple of hours. Wait until it's cooled off to use.

I read somewhere long ago that tea is suppose to strengthen the hair shaft (spearmint tea or mint tea in general was suppose to stop hair loss). I don't know how true those statements are, but it's very refreshing to pour warm tea on your head. It doesn't last long but I love the light, sweet smell from the tea rinse.

ETA: I do a tea rinse after I wash my hair.

Sounds refreshing. I will def try. Has it made a difference with your hair?

I do LCS with KC Califia Moisturizing Spray, APB Hair Creme, and OGX Coconut Milk Anti Breakage Serum when needed. One session can last 6-10 days with maybe one edges/nape touch up with cream and a few drops of oil after 4 or 5 days.

Omg 6-10 days! Whoa! Does serum work better than oil? Do you only do this during wash days?

Honestly, I didn't notice any difference when I did or didn't tea rinse my hair. It's just a refreshing step for me:)

I get a longer lasting sealing from them. I'm lazy when it comes to M&S so I try to pack what I can into my session because I'm never up for multiple sessions a week.
Non-wash day LCS is what I described above.
Wash day LCS at the moment is APB Leave In Spray (creamy L), thicker leave in conditioner (it varies as I go through my stash, favorite is KC Matani LI), and various serums (favorites are CHI Keratin Silk Infusion and OGX serums).
