For me it's when my scalp shows flakes and becomes itchy which is usually around day 5.. What about you?

Usually it happens about after a week and I have one or more of the following

-scalp starts flaking and itching
-hair is greasy and weighed down
-when NG comes in my roller set begins to revert
-moisturizing and sealing does nothing

3 days is a max I can go. I workout a lot and my hair just grows in size the closer it gets to wash day. Lol sometimes I think I have a monster on my head.

4 to 5 days after shampooing then I notice a musty smell. I'm currently washing weekly and will just ponytail and add nice smelling product for last few days before washing.

If I wash more regularly or just co wash then maybe after 3 to 4 days as it'll get 'greasy' quicker.

I don't moisturise or oil my scalp usually but on the rare occasions I do, I notice that oddly I can go longer between washes as I don't notice any smell.

Because I'm use to washing weekly my scalp has started to itch on the 6th day . I think it's all in the head though lol

I'm trying to adopt:

Twice a week in the Summer

Once per week in the Winter (Spring & Fall)

*I was a faithful twice a weeker, but I'm trying to only do that now in the Summer.*

It depends on how I'm wearing my hair. Right now I'm going through a braids and twist faze so I'm on a bi-weekly cleanse reggy. I co-wash and re twist as needed.

When I wear my hair out I usually cleanse once a week and do-wash in between for moisture/restyle/detangle.

:blush:About a month:blush:
When my hair is straight I dry shampoo it as needed. When I wear my hair natural I cowash only. I really only use shampoo when I go to the salon to get my hair blown out

I wash my hair once a week faithfully. If I were working out like I should be, I would probably co-wash 2-3 times a week. I don't get flakes and my scalp doesn't itch, but my products start to build up, and I just like clean smelling hair.

When my hair completely loses the fresh wash/relaxed swing. With longer hair I'd just pony it up but since I've been in short hair since 2012 I've been a once a week washer.

I use to be 2 weeks. 1 week straight, another updos and ponytails then wash.

I would say day 3 is when it starts bothering me. It starts getting itchy and my scalp just has so much build up. It's truly disgusting to me lol I'm trying to get away from cowashing because it weighs my hair down. So I'm shampooing every other day basically when natural. When straight, I ride it out as long as I possibly can...I think I may have lasted two weeks before when I had it professionally done. Just to get my money's worth lol

Now that it's summertime here in S. Florida, 5 days is the most I can go before my scalp starts to revolt big time, and that's pushing it.

I used to wash once a week faithfully. Now it's once every two weeks. I don't mind washing, it's having to do my hair after that's the issue. But yeah, at two weeks my scalp and hair isn't happy

The absolute MOST I can do is 10 days and even that is pushing it. On average, I find that my scalp is cool with once a week washing.

I wash my hair just about every 5 days. Like right now. I need to wash big time, but I'm not doing it. I'm going to wait until tomorrow when I have time and then I'll have big, fresh smelling, beautiful hair for the weekend.

One of my relatives only washes her hair once a month. Her scalp is nasty IMO, but she brushes it and waits on purpose. She has really long hair and it's a hassle for her to wash it.

The only reason I stretch my wash days is because I feel like low manipulation is best for my hair. If I could wait every 2 weeks I would. Also - my DH puts his nose in my hair at some point throughout the week (even if he doesn't realize he's doing it) and I like to give him something yummy to inhale.

This is off topic - but a girlfriend just told me that she doesn't wash her hair or her head scarf regularly. Her husband recently asked her, "What's that smell?" and it was her head scarf. She refused to wash it! She slept it in even though it was stinky. I didn't know what to say to her. I just stared at her wide eyed and then I told her that I wash my hair scarf and pillowcase at least once a week. What's the point of washing your hair and then putting a stinky scarf on it at night or sleeping on a sweaty pillowcase?

I workout almost daily and really sweat so even thought I smell nothing I still know that I need to co wash at least twice a week because that doesn't mean others can't smell something. :)

Also this summer my hair and scalp feel drier and need lots of water.

if I see flakes, or hair is sticky or gunky feeling. If I use minimal products I can go 2 wks w/o wasking. which I am practicing going through my transition to relaxer free. 9 months post and I MUST tension dry my roots with cool air or stretch my roots somehow and that takes time so I have to make it last..aargghh

2 weeks max. I work out 3-4 times a week but I don't sweat much in my head.

My hair does better with less manipulation so I try to do styles that can withstand a cowash inbetween washing without needing to re manipulate my hair.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using LHCF .... plz excuse the occasional crap typos :)

Just over a week-8-9 days. My breaking point is when my scalp gets noticeably itchy and if I push it, gets sore from me scratching it.

Summer - I try to wash once a week so my scalp doesn't get itchy & bumpy from sweating and the heat.

Winter - Wash every 10-14 days. Any sooner than that and my scalp starts to ache.

I can go weeks without shampooing, but not more than 3 days without rinsing or cowashing.

I normally go 3-4 weeks on straightened hair. When my hair is straight let my hair last as long as my hair still feels soft and supple, has no noticeable shedding, smells good and looks good. At about week three when my hair feel dry to the touch or my style goes limp I either wash and restyle or damp twist and stretch out the wash for one more week. When I am wearing my hair natural I co wash every week to minimize detangling woes and maintain a nice natural style. I use actual shampoo before every heat style but at least once a month.

Did anybody see that episode of LA Hair with the woman who glued on her own weave and hadn't washed her hair for six months?
