Yea so... My hair is similar to hers, but less curly :look: I was curious and chopped off the relaxed part of my hair on a small portion of my head... hours later, the hair hasn't curled at all :perplexed it just looks like an 's' so I'm beginning to think that I was wrong the entire time.

It's like this, but the ends don't curl.

Yea and I was right :look: If I BC then my hair is definitely going to be frizzy :ohwell:

I would say a 3b/c.
Show us your hair when you've cut off all the relaxed hair

Her hair looks dry and dull from the color job she has, I'm sure she could have less frizzy hair with the proper care.

3a. Maybe some 3b in there (hard to tell since it's all frizzed out)

I doubt there is much 3c. Those curls are loose looking and don't see any pencil sized tendrils.

Who is that? I love her hair :)

Hey OP, are you helloyellowbird on NC? Because there was a similar post over there and I answered it. I'll just copy and paste my response:

An inch or two of hair probably wouldn't be enough hair to curl anyway. If you left one cm of relaxed hair then it REALLY won't curl. Give your hair a few more months before you check again.

Some of us have different textures throughout our head. If I had done that in the front of my hair I would've thought I had no curls either. My front doesn't curl at all and if I wet it and add gel it'll at least have a nice wave to it, but it took 11 inches of hair to do that. The rest of my hair curls. BTW some people have scab hair at the line of demarcation so that could be it too.

Transition a little longer and give your hair time to grow. If your hair doesn't curl at all, then I guess it would be up to you whether or not you want to continue being natural.

As far as the model, she's probably a 3a/3b. I wouldn't compare 1 inch of your new growth to that model because it really is too short to see its real texture. Especially if you have scab hair. Do you have any pictures of your natural hair when you were a little girl? That might help. HTH!! BTW don't give up on your transition. For all you know your hair is 100% curly and prettier than that woman's hair.

She looks like a 3a/3b. ITA with the other ladies. It's probably too early for you to determine what your hair type maybe. As for myself, I have about 5 inches of ng. My front is shaped like an 's' with a very loose pattern. My nape is tight like coffee stirrers. My sides are about the size of an ink pen. Crown has 's' and spirals. I'm pretty sure once all of my relaxed hair is off that's going to change. If your hair remains like the model's, I'm pretty sure you will be able to control frizz. There are plenty of products that will eliminate that. HTH.
