there are a bunch of discussions on this but for me, I feel it adds moisture to the hair...opening the pores, cutilces letting the conditioner and its benefits into the hair.....hair is shiner, stronger....I use to get them at the salon but i recently purchased on for home use....I've been lazy but I used it last night...love it
that plus conditioner with EVOO Whoooooaoooo
The stylist washes my hair. She then applies a reconstructor, i.e. protein deep conditioning treatment. Following this, I am placed under the steamer. It's like a steam facial for the hair. The hair is surrounded by warm steam. I usually sit under the steamer for 20-30 minutes.
The steamer resembles a hood dryer, except there is an attachment at the back of the steamer for water. The heat and water combine to produce steam. So, instead of heat coming through the hood, it is steam.
Isn't there a hot-towel method?
I could have sworn that I read that you could wrap a damp towel around your head, sit under the dryer and get the same effect.

that's really not the same in my opinion. You can do it to deep condition but the steam is really not created. I would sooner put a plastic cap on an sit in the dryer...the wet towl, drippin' down my neck..is annoying to me
