..........that would make your hair dry and brittle?

I have been meaning to ask this question for a while now and I know someone here will have the answer for me. When I last got my hair cut at about chin length, I was going to the salon weekly for a shampoo and set/wrap. The stylist was good at taking care of hair and not just "doing a style". It was around March and my ends just in the front of my head started to get dry and brittle. When I told her I figured out what it was, she laughed at me............

It was very windy and I never wore anything on my head and my hair right in the front would always blow in the wind and get stuck in my lipstick. (it was a chin length bob). The ends every where else were just fine, but it was just those ends right in the front that were dry and brittle.

She thought it was far fetched, but it's the only explanation I can offer (didn't use any heat on them or anything and why were just the ends on either side of my head in the front only brittle?).....What do you think? Is there a particular ingredient in lipstick that would do this?

Can't think of anything; my ends get kinda oily if they fly into my lipstick, no matter what brand it is.

I just knew it had to be something in my lipstick b/c I kept them wrapped all the time and didn't do anything except go to the salon every week. Girl, my ends looked like a piece of paper would look if a dog got a hold to it!

It's probably not the lipstick so much as the wind. Wind can cut your hair and will no doubt show up on the weakest part, your ends.

But the only ends that were damaged were those right near the front (the very front)

What kind of lipstick is it? Isn't petroleum or something like it in lipstick? I dont' wear lipstick that often so I don't really know. Maybe you should look up the ingreidents...I've heard of things like whale fat being in lipstick, but that could just be a UL.
