Breakage?? I am at a lost for words, my breaking strands are driving me CRAZY!!! What have helped you with breakage?

Dry/Frizzy Ends??? I am also having this too. I just dont know what to do. :nono:

My hair is growing and it was getting better now this!! :wallbash:

For your ends, try sealing them a butter, oil or plain ol hair grease. I like to seal mine with shea butter and that's been working lovely for me.

Protein treatment PRONTO!!! Aphogee's 2 step Protein Treatment stops breakage DEAD in its tracks.

this cna help but if the breakage is due to dryness, the aphogee can make it worse.

OP, whats your regimen? what do you do to your hair on a daily and weekly basis? what products do you use?

That's very true. If it's really dry, I would then do a deep moisturizing con and add some oil on top with heat for 15 to 20 mins. See if that helps.

OP, whats your regimen? I get wash and sets weekly and I DC with every wash. Last week I didnt DC & got a blow out, but I noticed my breakage before then. what do you do to your hair on a daily and weekly basis? I wrap my hair out somes I moisturize and seal and wear it out. I also do the same when I get home and wrap it at night. what products do you use? I think that It might be lack of moisture because I was ODing on protein treatments when I got overprocessed, it worked but I cant find a good conditioning treatment to get my moisture back up!

The first thing I do is asses whether the breakage is from over protein, dryness, heat damage or over-moisture.

Overmoisture breakage is usually soft and mushy feeling - like the hair just mushes in your fingers. That calls for either simply stepping down your moisture regimen, or a protein treatment. Since I'm natural, that has only happened once - when I was baggying my hair overnight for like - 3 weeks straight. I skipped the baggying for the next few mights, and my hair was fine - I don't really need much protien.

Heat damage also calls for protein - a stronger one, this time, as you are not trying to balance the protein/moisture leve, but you are actually trying to repair slightly damaged strands. Infusing them with a powerful protein is a great way to do that - and you still need to follow that up with a moisturizing DC, to insure that you adjust your protien/moisture balance - no sense of overdoing it, ya know?

If the hair feels 'hard' and 'brittle' though, it could be over-protein - and that calls for a good moisturizing DC.

Dryness usually feels rough & hard - that also calls for a good moisturizing DC.

Also to help figure out what's causing it - think about the last couple of things you've done to your hair - have you changed something in the routine? Taken something out? Also, look at your usual products, and check what the ratio of protein to moisture is - that'll also give you a hint. If 8 out of 10 products are moisturizing, I would suspect your hair was over moisturized before over proteined, ya know? I can usually look back and pinpoint something when my breakage jumps up - too much baggying? Extra heavy on the oils? Haven't clarified lately? Extra protein in the reggi? Recent heat usage? - and from there, I know how to fix.

Once you figure out why it's breaking - the how to fix comes easy.

Good luck!

make sure ur porosity is on point too, if its a moisture problem. You maybe doing all the right things in terms of dc'ing & moisturizing, but if ur strands aren't holding in that moisture then it can be more of a headache

I use tea tree and shea butter moisturizer and I seal with Olive Oil. Sometimes I use NTM (rarely though)

Try to figure out if it's due to lack of protein, too much moisture or too little moisture then treat accordingly. Heavy protein treatment like Jheri Redding or dc w/heat, moisturise with S curl and seal like crazy. I also use a cream oil moisturiser like Carsons.

I like Dark and Lovely's Dry Hair Healer. I add sweet almond oil and honey to mine. Put that on, top it off with some coconut oil, and hit the hair dryer for about 10 minutes. (Note. I do it on dry hair before i wash and shampoo) The results: super soft, and moisturized hair!

Normally when I notice breakage, it is because I need moisture or because my hair needs a chelating treatment (I have hard water issues). It is rarely because I need protein. But, that's just me.

Clarify and follow with a protein conditioner, Aubrey GPB is great IMO. Also avoid a lot of manipulation. I hope that helps.

Motions CPR.........................................

Co-sign...if it don't help you can't be helped...

(Okay, that's an exaggeration, but it's a wonderful product and I have no use for any other protien. It's stoped light-weight and heavy-weight breakage for me.)

I was noticing this. Come to find out I was using too much protein. I was using Aphogee Keratin, Organix Coconut, and other stuff. Then my hair started breaking like crazy, getting very dry, tangling on itself. I started by DCing and then I found out about garlic. I put some in my DC and it stopped the breakage.
