How/when do you detangle your hair? Also, can you describe any breakage that you are seeing and when it happens?

with the daily co-wash and twisting/pinning you hair is missing a taste of low-manipulation.

You may also want to try an oil or butter to seal in the moisture and protect your ends.

My detangle is when I let the water in the shower run threw my hair. And when I finally combed my hair throughly Yesterday i got extreme breakage. Idk why when I've been giving her the best care since march I only comb and brush the roots and I'm very gentle.

I do it every other day because I work out every other day and my hair starts looking a mess if u don't wash it in that pattern regardless if I w/o or not. How often should I be washing. I must workout and when twist I dont twist my ends and I think plenty of ladies in here do braidouts and twist outs :(

I co-wash or oil rinse daily and I wear a single braid to reduce manipulation & seal with oil or shea butter. I swim/sweat daily

Hi OP,

There is a good thread on here about moisture vs. protein and how to tell what your hair is lacking. A quick search should make it pop up very quickly. I'll see if I can find it.

So just a few thoughts:
- Have you tried a shower head filter? Check one of the home improvement stores if you don't have one. Water can be very harsh b/c most municipalities have a lot of deposits and chemicals in the water supply. Imagine what it's doing to your skin and hair.

- Don't stick with products that are not working for you. Don't be a PJ but you'll need to find products that work for you and your hair needs. Do the products provide adequate "slip" for YOUR hair? Are you using a leave in conditioner and what are you using for a moisturizer? I find that with frequent washing the conditioner needs to provide a lot of moisture because you don't want the frequent washing to dry out your hair and you don't want the salt from your sweat to dry out your hair either. The travel and trial sizes of products can help you try new products without wasting a lot of money.

Be patient and be encouraged in your journey. It will all come together for you but it just takes a bit of trial and error.

Wet detangling doesn't work for everyone. Try to detangle your hair while it's damp instead of soaking wet.

Did you say you deep condition with Herbal Essences? That is not a deep conditioner.
I love the Herbal essences conditioner but to me their products is like fast food.
I think I would add a conditioner with some real nutrients in it.

no i dont detangle period.meaning i just let the water do the work
