Here's my regimen. What am I missing?

I thought I was giving my tresses TLC (tender loving care), but obviously my hair progress has shown otherwise. I can account for obliviously over processing my hair, but aside from that, I thought I was on a sure path to long healthy hair. Here's my regimen:

Once a week I:
Wash with ORS Olive Oil Shampoo
Deep condition with ORS hair mayonnaise (cover with shower cap for about 1-2 hours. I also usually add one egg to hair mayonnaise)
Apply ORS Tea tree leave in conditioner
Rollerset

For maintenance, I might apply some Alternatives Oil Sheen (by Softsheen Carson) and finger comb. I must admit, though, I tie my hair with a scarf that most often ends up on the floor by morning. This regimen is low maintenance/manipulation, and NO HEAT. After 2 years natural, I finally got a relaxer in March. Since then, my hair has been touched up about 3 times - all of which my hair was relaxed from roots to tip. (Didn't know any better). Now, I know to be extra careful not to overlap when relaxing. It's been about three weeks since my last bad relaxer, and since I've strictly followed the above regimen. (This was my regimen even before) Am I missing anything?

I am not an expert on relaxed hair, but it does seem like you lack moisture. What are you putting on your hair daily to give it moisture. If you head scarf is not staying on at night, your pillowcases might need to be satin so it won't dry out your hair. Cotton pillow cases will dry out your hair. Oil sheen is not good for daily moisture. You said that you have been applying your relaxer from root to tip, so i think you may want a stronger protein treatment for your hair. This could help strengthen your strands if they are weak. :yep:

Your regimen sounds pretty good. I do know that that ORS Olive Oil Shampoo has a harsh sulfate in it. I forgot which, but I think it might be ammonium laurel sulfate. It might be good to switch to something with a milder surfactant.

About your scarf coming off, I believe it was Wanakee that said it's better to have the hair protected 1/2 the night than none of the night!

Ummmm, in my mind, ors mixed with an egg is a lot of protein and I didn't see in your initial post that you DC after ors mayo + egg. Like above posters, I think this your culprit is lack of moisture. I loooovvvveee ors mayo + egg + a little amla. It makes my hair really strong and prevents breakage but I absolutely MUST DC with heat afterwards to moisturize or I run the risk of dry brittle hair that may break due to lack of moisture. Maybe try a DC (i use ors replenishing pack-great slip) under the dryer for 20-30 mins and see if that helps. HTH

I would recommend alternating conditioners with your weekly shampoo, one week a protein conditioner the next week a moisturizing conditioner (like Neutrogena Triple Moisture or one that you like).

Cosigning with the ladies. I know that my hair was suffering from protein overload and by incorporating moisture (DC once a week, con washes mixed with evoo twice a week, sealing and bagging every day) my hair is responding well. I only shampoo once a week with a moisturizing poo and every 2 wks with a clarifying one- I have hard water.

Let us know what worked for you.

Are you texlaxed? I would say always err to moisture because that is what our hair needs most. If your hair starts to feel mushy then do a protein treatment to add structure. Good Luck Lady:yep::yep:
