I havent had a relaxer since December cause I've been stretching. After 6 months I wanna relax my hair but all I've ever used are no-lye.They seem to be drying out my hair though.Either that or it's just that I need another brand of no-lye. Profective doesn't work at all so foget about that one:( What do you think I should do:confused: ?

I've good things about elucence but this is a professional relaxer. Stylist is the only one who can buy the relaxer. I really want to try it.

I use optimum-no-lye because I saw that Isis and Sylver achieved good results with it(both 4a/b) and I love it.It got me silky straight when this was my goal but also texlaxed me when I wanted curlpattern left.

Hope that helps:)
Also there are various threads on the whole lye versus no-lye issue
I see if i can bump some up for you!

To the OP, I was in the same boat as you. My last relaxer was Dec 1, 2006, and am planning to stretch til May. Previously, all I ever used were no lye boxed relaxers (all kinds, I didnt discriminate ;) ). Well, I am stretching with a weave and leave my edges and a horse shoe amount of real hair out, and needless to say blending became a problem when I hit 3 months post.

So I decided to relax the hair that is left out. And from hearing about lye relaxers on this board, I decided to try it out. I used Motions regular lye relaxer last week. And I loved it! My hair is really soft and silky, and it got it straight and I didnt have to leave it on long at all. And I didnt get any burning or irritation whatsoever. So when I do a full relaxer in May, I will stick with Motions lye!

I am a 4a/b and I used Mizani and after reading this post I see that it was a lye relaxer. I did not know that before texturizing. I used Mizani for about 5-7 minutes with minimal smoothing to achieve a texturized look. It worked great! However, it could have gotten me bone straight without a problem had I left it on for 17-20 minutes for my hair type (with smoothing).

I love Mizani, but I have never tried Phyto and if they sold it here I would switch because of all the raves on this board.

SILK ELEMENTS REGULAR LYE. The results are really quite pretty; gives an "Indian" wavy look to my hair after moisturizers. I used to have straightened hair with Revlon no-lye but my hair was really dry. SE has made my hair thinner {not less hair but thinner fibers} so switching to the MILD SE to see if that lessens the thinner diameter. I'll switch to VITALE if the diameter remains the same as my strands were always thick and coarse. Castor oil has helped also. SILK ELEMENTS does what it says: SILK.

Motions is like adding conditioner to my hair...does nothing for me! I am stretching and in the past I liked Silk Elements (sold only at Sallys) and Optimum for lye.

For no lye.....Gentle Treatment ..hands down! It was my first..and I always think fondly of it

Girl Mizani is the truth:D My stylist uses the Mizani Mild for fine and color treated hair. I relax bone straight because my NG is hella thick. But my hair comes out very smooth, full, and soft. I get that white girl swang
I love their products on my hair. Mizani H20 is a great moisturizer and the Moisturfuse conditioner makes my hair soft. I havent had issues with dry hair or breakage. Good luck finding a relaxer I just picked one and stuck to it.
