What is Dusting?

I have seen a lot of the members here say that they dust their ends. What exactly is that and how does it differ from an actual trim? Are they the same? I tried to do a search but couldn't really get enough info about it. TIA for the replies.

Hi Missbobbie, dusting of the ends is trimming like 1/8 of an inch. An acutal trim can be anywhere from 1/4 in. to 1 in. I had got my hair cut in January and February of last year and dusted my ends until a few weeks ago. I went to the salon and got 1/4 in. trim. HTH
