i dont know what a silk press is..but, i do know what a silk wrap is?....like referring to hair of course:perplexed

Where I'm from, a silk press is when they press your hair without using oil so that it's light and bouncy. Usually they do it with a flat iron, but I've also seen it done with a comb.

do they infuse it with silk or something? I've seen pictures afterward and I want to get it done, but no one that I know of does it in their salons in VA.

I've also heard it called the california press. Its just like what the above poster metioned. It just has a fancy name and its something you can do at home(IMHO)

I'm curious as well. What specific products are used? Is it something like Chi Silk Infusion or Biosilk???

To my understanding it is nothing but a fancy term for flat ironing your hair using very little product so that your hair is silky, light and not weighed down with product....

oh lol darn it

ok thanks everyone.

I saw this picture and just had to know what was done, and I was also hoping I could achieve this look at home. I guess the only way is to wait till my hair is healthy lol or go to a salon and have them fake the healthy look!

That's pretty. I am wondering if maybe they used a silicone based product (serum) before running the iron over the hair.

Wow that's a cute style! I'd get that. But I think my hair would fly around way too much without oil. That's just how my hair is. It's naturally fluffy and light.

Below is my DIY Silk Press; Ingredients needed are:
1. One head of healthy natural hair
2. A dab of CHI Silk Infusion on each section of hair
3. Hot comb or Flat Iron
4. Expert technique with hot comb or flat iron.

Thank you CG! I pay $22.99 for a 6oz. But I use such a tiny amount per press that one bottle last me a year.
"Curve Chiseling" is an exercise regimen I designed to keep my body guessing so to bust through plateaus. I get maximum benefit with minimum effort.

Thank you! After my webzine redesign is complete, I will have details about my new workout program, and I'm in the process of making a workout DVD on the curve chiseling regimen.

I silk press all the time with a flat iron. I can't stand using products on my hair especially after blow drying.
