What is a Silk Press?

Where I'm from, a silk press is when they press your hair without using oil so that it's light and bouncy. Usually they do it with a flat iron, but I've also seen it done with a comb.

I've also heard it called the california press.Its just like what the above poster metioned.It just has a fancy name and its something you can do at home(IMHO)

No they don't use any products, expect maybe a leave in. A good stylist will use a heat protectant though.

To my understanding it is nothing but a fancy term for flat ironing your hair using very little product so that your hair is silky, light and not weighed down with product....

I saw this picture and just had to know what was done, and I was also hoping I could achieve this look at home. I guess the only way is to wait till my hair is healthy lol or go to a salon and have them fake the healthy look!

Wow that's a cute style! I'd get that. But I think my hair would fly around way too much without oil. That's just how my hair is. It's naturally fluffy and light.

That's what I had done last night. She used a heat protectant but not much else. My hair is really fluffy.
