In short I got a full sewn in w/ closure done knocking on 2 weeks ago. The first week I was an itching mad woman and thanks to all the posts here I fould a way to subdue the itching. I also learned from this site that washing my weave (remy godess brand - human hair) was important and needs to be done at least weekly - so i washed my hair over the last weekend and I don't know if i didn't dry it properly, didn't put something on that that i shouldn't have or what but after washing I blowdried the hair and now it has a mind of it's own!!! It won't go back to the way it was before i washed it - now it's not frizz central but it won't lay the way it used to. I've also noticed that it's been breaking when I brush it. I purchased and use a paddle brush to use on the weave when i need to...What's causing the breakage?!? Is this normal? Did I spend too much on bad hair?!? Did using the flat iron on the weave do this to it (i've only used heat on it 4-5 times since getting it done.....
Ladies I'm begging for help. i don't want to take this out after 2 weeks...I want my money's worth (I'm wimpering right now I swear) Please help
:wallbash: :nono: :perplexed :ohwell:

Try rewashing it in the shower and adding a leave in serum, wet wrapping and sitting under the dryer until its dry. You may need to use hair pins to hold your wrap in place.

Did you use conditioner? I have a full sew in as well, and as of tomorrow it will be two weeks. I've used shampoo 3 times (it gets oily/shiny looking); but I've also used a cheapie conditioner to revive the curl. It looks better now than when I first got it.
The hair I have is from the Janet Collection.

Ronakajones - I haven't purchased a serum, I'm ashamed to say I don't know what that is....please advise as to what to get and where if you know. (please exscuse my ignorance - this is my first time with a weave like this, the last time was a partial with my front and back hair out over 10 years ago)
Laidbak - I did use conditioner when I washed my hair. I left it on for 5 minuets and rinsed thoroughly. Did I do damage by blowdrying the hair???

Lots and lots of conditioner (use any cheapie i really like herbal essences just because of the smell when in weave), from the base of the weft to the tips on each track and i leave for at least 10 mins. I only shampoo if i have a lot of product in the weave.

When rinsing don't rub the hair, i then air dry the hair until to it is damp to dry then finish off with dryer.

You can blowdry, i find spraying with olive oil helps but i don't brush it until it is dry then i flat iron. I have had no probs with breakage of the weave or with it getting back to normal.

Nya33 - Thank you sooooooooo very much for your advise - I will do this this weekend!

Is there something I can use on the hair to keep the flyaways down? When wearing the hair down I notice i have to brush it all the time to keep it from getting that semi-matted thing going on...

Also...I saw something in the hair store the other day that tripped me out. It was a no water wash product that basically allowed you to clean your scalp and hair (under the weave) without water.....looked kind of iffy so I didn't buy it - but is that possible?

You are welcome!
A small amount of olive oil sheen and serum helps with preventing matting. Apply serum where the matting is likely to occur. Brush through and when you get home in the eve wrap it. You can also try a light misting of a water based spray on weave length. Cant think of a brand but there are loads out there.

Was it dry shampoo? If it was thats more for refreshing the hair between a wash. I have heard of these products but not used them on a weave.

Wow, matting after only two weeks? :nono: I don't think you damaged it by blowdrying. I blowdry mine with a diffuser mostly (its wavy), but sometimes with a nozzle when I want the ends to curl a certain way. I use mousse to manage the flyaways and further define the wave. Have you tried mousse?
I've never heard of weave hair to break off. I mean come out from the weft yeah, but breakage?? Wow...
I would try the wet wrap that was suggested already. And also lots of conditioner.

When I was a member of Black Hair Media some women in the weave section would use the Silicone Mix conditioner on their weaves to help with maintaining their weaves. Sorry to hear about your bad experience...

I found that using Dove(blue bottles) really help the weave stay fresh looking. See if you can buy a small bottle in the travel pack section. That way you wont have to buy big bottles.

Ajaks - the brand of hair I purchased is called Goddess Remi - it was expensive so I thought I was getting good hair and the woman that did my hair tried to buy my extra pack from me. It's good hair so I don't think it's the hair...I think it's something I'm doing...

Nya33 - I will deffinatly be getting some of that today.

Laidbak - maybe matted was a bad word to use. I guess I mean the hair gathers near the end and gets a bit tangled and needs to be brushed in order to smooth it out again. I wear the hair down all the time and I don't know what to do about it. I will go pick up some mosse (I heard softsheen makes a weave mosse) Thank you for the advice.

well that's bss hair for ya. the bss remi hair is supposed to be reusable but some reuses better then others. basically with bss hair the more you wash it the more the coating comes off of it. i know thats true of the cheaper hair not really sure about the bss remi though. just about all bss remi hair is expensive but you'd really be spending a little less or a bit more to get some real remy hair from a vendor that you could reuse for at least a year if you take care of it right.

Ladies - thank you all for your words of support and suggestions on reclaiming my weave LOL!
