bantu knot outs: One of the 2 times I got frustrated with my hair. I almost tied my hair in knots. My hair looked like a grandma's roller set...Gosh awful!
wrap: When I was relaxed I could never wrap my hair. I always had a bump of hair at the crown.
wrap my hair (but i think i just need more practice)
wigs (half wigs, lace wigs, full wigs, partial... just wigs) only ever bought one in my life, never wore it out (except for Halloween). I see others wear them successfully, but i just dont think i could ever pull them off. plus they seem too hot. i feel like i'm missing out on a great protective style though
install braid extensions. I know how, and have done a decent job on my dd on a couple of occasions, but i can never get it to look right on myself. I really wanted to do the crown and glory method, but since i dont have skills to keep it up, i've never done it
wash n goes. When my hair was shorter, it was easy breazy and looked great, when i got heat damage, it looked horrible, when i re-big-chopped last year, it looked great again, now it looks horrible again and i think its due to length/awkward stage as it grows so i dont wear them much (but will revisit in summer)
I can cornrow my bangs but not the rest of my hair. Make no sense. I need to work on this because I think it would make my braidouts a lot better
speaking of braid outs I haven't perfected it either. I do it differently all the time, and most of the time it comes out nice, but I'd really like to have one technique and stick with it for predictable results
Oh and wet bunning is a fail...Its too hard to get my wet hair in a bun without manipulating it too much. And even if I find a way my bun just looks puny compared to a regular bun on dry hair
I've tried twist outs...my hair just won't hold the definition. Cornrows and any other kind of braids are not working. I am able to 2 strand twist and flat twist a little. The middle of my hair is difficult to do anything to, but I am still trying to practice and keep twists in my hair.
i havent tried bantu knot outs on un stretched hair, which is what i would like to work on but did them on a week old flat ironed hair and it was beautiful.
also i tried braidouts when i first became natural and it was a no go. but i think it will work and look better with more length.
Lastly i would like to master the rollerset...i couldnt even master it when i was relaxed and never even attempted it on my natural hair...scared pretty much!
Funny this thread came up. I have never been able to cornrow, mainly because I naturally braid in and not underhand. But today I did my daughter's whole head and it's actually presentable enough for her to go out in public. But I definitely have not mastered the skill.
Wash n go's. They look ok when wet, but as soon as my hair dries it shrinks up like crazy and looks a hot mess. Not sure if it's the products, technique, hair shape/length or all of the above. Maybe when I get more length I'll try again.
I can flat twist my daughter hair in all kind of styles and designs. I can barely do mine I saw a vid by longhairdontcare2011 that I may use to try make my flat twists neater.
