Sorry, I know I've been posting alot of threads recently but I'm really curious as to what hair color would be best on me - I've recently been dying it jet black and I like the shine that it gives , but my mom thinks I should try a lighter color. I don't know though :ohwell: I don't want it to clash with my skin tone. The pic of me is in my profile. It's not the best, but I will get better pics up soon that show the actual length LOL hopefully sometime this week. Thanks!

I agree that it looks good as is, but the deep red would probably look good too. My favorite though would be a dark brown (your natural color?) with deep red highlights. Whatever you do, don't go too light because the lighter it is the more damage is being done. Just remember to post pics when you dye it!

Now, when you say you have been dying it black, what do you mean? Perm., semi, or rinse? I ask because depending on which method you use and whether you are natural or relaxed, you may not want to go lighter. Seeing as you have dyed your hair jet black, in order to go lighter, you would have to bleach that color out (or use color remover). Either way, since the color you currently have is so dark, you would have to take that shade up a few notches and that will create EXTREME damage if you are relaxed, some damage if you are not. So if you are trying to grow your hair or repair any damage you have, you may just want to leave it be and maybe stop dying your hair so that in the future, you can go lighter without causing so much stress. ( oh, and you will have to let the jet black grow out)

Sorry

Assuming you don't have any old permanent color in your hair you don't have to bleach it. But if your hair is hard to color you might have to use a stronger developer. I personally like to do a mixture of 3/4's 20 vol and 1/4 30 volume to make sure the color takes but not too brightly. I recently added more highlights w/Textures and Tones Bronze and it came out nice, but I believe that must have a strong developer in it too cause my hair is hard to lift.
