I have a GHD flat iron and this thing gets really hot!!!

Now i am looking for one with heat control
my mum has a ghd and her hair is thinnening. it also chewed my ends up over time last year. u really need to be careful with GHD alot have been known to have blown up, or weny haywol and become hotter and hotter and just died out. do u know that within 10 mins it goes to 240...degrees or the other i'm not sure, but thats WAYYYYY too hot, i have a BABYLISS - THERMOGLASS straightener and it gets my hair straighter than the ghd with less heat and its over half the price, the thermoglass is smoother then ceramic underneath a microscope which would explain why i have been using it for nearly 6 months and my hair has not been affected in any way. the heat i use is 160 - 180, it retains more moisture too. Here have a look - you can get it very cheap in boots. :

I am the proud owner of a chi iron. I was lucky enough to purchase it at a hair show. About $130.00 but well worth it. Heats in less than 10seconds and it doesn't burn your hair. You should be trained on how to use it for the best results. when it's used with biosilk product it leaves my hair with the best shine and soft texture.

I am a proud owner of a Maxiglide, I love the softness and shine it brings along w/the added moisture from the steam. I haven't thought of purchasing anything else since receiving it, ;)

Can someone recommend a good flat iron that doesn't cost between $100-$200? I know the flat irons recommended are the best out there (maybe one day I will buy one), but is there anything for those that aren't ready to put that much money into a flat iron? Thanks in Advance.

I use the T3. Was thinking about the Sedu, but decided with the T3. Haven't used it that much, but when I did I was happy with the results.

Am I the only one here who's purchased the H2pro. :( I'm not sure how to tell if I have a good one or not. A beautician at my local hair supply store recommended it. Anyone else?

I use a wide Vidal Sassoon Ceramic coated flat iron... it's ok, gets my hair nice and straight, it just takes a while.
I've been meaning to upgrade, but I want something good AND cheap.

Gold 'n hot makes a flat iron with a control setting that will do the trick for about $30.00 The key is to spritz cold water one each section right b4 you apply iron to seal in moisture and keep yourself from burning your hair. The spritz bottle should be at least 6 inches away. -Just one spritz do not dampen hair. I don't want you shock yourself. I find if I dont' spend the $ and get exactly what I want I'm still not satisfied. -and end up buying what i wanted in the 1st place. so i've spent even more money.

Thanks for the information. Good point about spending the money to get what you want. A good flat iron and a good dryer are on my wish list. Now I have to decide which one I want to spend the money on since they are both high priced items. Thanks, again!

I have a Jilbere Ceramic Flat Iron, the one with the temperature dial. It works very well for me.

Me too. It's perfect for my fine hair and it's only $40-45 bucks.
