kristie21 said:HI ThereI should know this one because im always in my friend's Dominican salon that she owns. Her mother and her have been doing my hair for at least 5-6 years now. I also do my own rollersets blowouts at home. But before I answer this one, did you want to know what hair products like shampoos/conditioners, leav-ins or serums...or do you mean what kind of blow dryers of rollers etc...?
Well, I guess those 29 folks don't know.Bublnbrnsuga said:BUMP...29 folks read this thread, but no one commented.
Yeap, the blowdryers from hell will get a sheep's wool straight as a pin.JLove74 said:I don't think there are products, per say, but that hot *** blowdryer and roundbrush....
kristie21 said:Its the blow dryer which has a very high wattage and get really hot. She ALWAYS uses a concentrate nozzle attachment (i think that's what you call it). The brand name of the dryers I see used in her salon are from "Twin Turbo", I've seen them in black and red and all black. Then one I have is all black and is 2800 watts:eek: .
Yes the boars bristle round brush and how you work it through the hair is key. As far as products, less is more. A leave-in like Salerem21 is used before the rollerset. The hair much be completely dry before the blowout.

Does all this heat and using a boar bristle brush cause a lot of breakage? I'm curious, b/c I'm thinking about a dominican blowout???
kristie21 said:Well I personally haven't had any breakage from the DBO's. Yes the dryer is able to get really hot because of the wattage, but they do not keep the heat in the same spot for more than a couple on seconds. They will repeat the section until its straight or as straight as they can get it (it varies from stylist to stylist) In my experiences, the only time that I have to get more repetitions with the blower in a certain section is when my roots are crazy and I'm a couple weeks post and since the legnth of my hair is already straight (relaxed), you dont have to do much. Just run the blower through it lightly.
And the hair should be completely dry from the rollerset before the blowout or else it will be frizzy and they will have to dry in more with the blower. Its happened to me when I did a DBO myself for the first time..no good. Its crazy but even with a hooded dryer, a hot blowdryer, and that round brush..My hair has ALWAYS come out soft and full of bounce. Never dry or brittle. I think the leav-ins, deep conditioning, and serums are what help keep the moisture.
