As you you flatiron your hair?

I think my Sedu Revolution is dying  it's about 4.5 years old

Yesterday, I heard it crackle as it warmed up and it gave off this weird smell. Like burning appliance smell (not burnt hair smell)

Anybody else experience this?

No. Mine smells like my hair products after I finish using it. If you're smelling burning machinery, you need to get a new iron. Better to spend $150 on a new iron than have your hair be burned up in a tragic flat iron accident.

After I went through a sulfur phase, it smelled like my oil/sulfur mix. I bought a new one. Now it doesn't smell unless I turn it up too high and burn my hair.

That's about how long I had my sedu before it conked out on me. I really don't think they last beyond that which is why I'll never get another one. Anyway it died with a shortage and then sparking and giving off a strong burning smell.

Oh no. I have a sedu revolution, and i love it. It is only a year and 6 months old, and so far so good. It smells like whatever heat protectant i am using. If i turn the heat to over 400, it does give off a burning smell once it touches my hair. I try to keep it between 340 and 410
These posts have me scared though, cause i only flat iron twice a year. So by the time this craps out on me, i would have only used it less than 8 times?

The titanium isn't damaging?

Not for me, but let me be honest. I've only straightened my hair about three or four times (and that was throughout that same week). I just recently got it this past November and used it in November. Kept my hair straight for 3 weeks even through rain and humidity. I haven't used it since however because I rarely straighten.

^ive been reading that

I'm probably gonna straighten every 2 weeks or so and the titanium seems like it would be too harsh. I ordered the sedu diamond revolution instead.

I d love to hear what difference there is between the revolution and the diamond. Please review, and if you remember please tag me.
I'm tempted to upgrade.
