What Does "Absorbent" Hair Mean?

I relaxed my hair last night but I noticed that it seemed to absorb the relaxer and the conditioner. I had to use TONS. What is that about? I did my first ApHOGEE treatment last week. Does that have something to do with it? Did I overload on protein?

It's not doing a lot of breaking or anything and it feels just fine now, after my massive conditioning with ORS Replenishing Pak and olive oil, a Humectress leave-in and after moisturizing with QP Mango Butter.

I guess it is how well your hair soaks up whatever is applied to it. Porous vs. non- porous. Some hair absorbs moisture more quickly and other types seem to be less likely to absorb. When I stand under the shower head I noticed it takes a while for my hair to become completely soaked. It also depends on the type of moisture. Some hair is more likely to absorb water based things more quickly while others absorb oil based faster. I'm not sure about the protein treatment causing more resistance. Perhaps it was a combination of that and whatever products you used on your hair before you relaxed. Product build up can inhibit absorption. Not sure I really answered your question though.

Thanks! So, since my hair really sucked up the moisture, I guess that means it's porous. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? (Off to do a search when I should be working...)
