Before you Relax??

LOL, It has been 16 weeks since my last relaxer that took
I tried a new relaxer and a new technique in Jan and it didnt take :(
So Im relaxing tonight (finally my elucence)...
But I have never based my scalp before...
I do the basics like the ears and the forehead etc...

What do you use and how do you apply..

TIA!

I ususally use a hair grease called DAX and I just part my hair and apply it as if I am greasing my scalp. I do it over the whole entire head. HTH:)

PS: Please do tell how the relaxer works out! I think I wanna try the Elucence for my next relaxer

Back in the days...when my mother would relax my hair she would use either plain ol' vaseline or blue magic grease.

I think anything that is thick enough to coat and protect your scalp and hairline from the relaxer would be good. HTHs

Thanks guys, I was gonna do vaseline, But I was thinking that it would be too thick.

Guess not huh!!

I use Isoplus Tea Tree & Aloe Treatment Anti-Breakage Scalp Remedy. Although it has petrolatum, it has good ingredients like rosemary, sage and coconut oil for the scalp. I think any hair grease or pomade with petrolatum will work. Just make sure you don't use too much base.

Thanks!!! I also use Protecto to coat my hair before relaxing..Maybe I can use that to base.. I just have this feeling the Vaseline wont wash all the way out!

this is what I used when I relaxed my hair too

the night before my relaxer i base my scalp using oil sheen spray.
it's simple and mess-free.
just use a detangling comb to make parts and spray directly on the scalp.
works everytime - usually proclaim or olive oil sheen spray.

I've used Elucence Protective Barrier Balm. It's good, but the results were just as good when I used Vaseline. As soon as I finish that balm, it's back to Vaseline for me.

I don't mean to get off topic, but what do you ladies put on your hair to protect it from the relaxer, and how close to your roots do you put it?
