Okay, I just joined the PJ Challenge. And I'm going through withdrawals all ready. So, rather than buying something new, I want to just try mixing some of the things that I do have. So, tell me what you mix in your conditioner, and the benefit the mixture has on your hair.

I love mixing things up. :D

I typically use Humectress or Keraphix as my "base" and I add milk powders (coconut or goat) honey, differnt oils, ect...

I also do this with Redken's All Soft Heavy Cream.

Sometimes I warm up the oil and honey before mixing it into the conditoner. I comb it through my hair and then cover with a plastic cap and a hot towel (fresh from the dryer).

Doing this has helped me "stretch" my conditoners and it also gives my hair great gloss and softness.

I mix honey with my conditioner - always. It makes y hair moister and shiner.
You can also mix henna in with it - it'll give you a little color and a LOT of conditioning - makes it stronger, and might loosen your curl a bit.
I've been considering dropping some powdered milk into it, but I don't think my hair needs any addition protien.

I'm going back to OIL. I had stopped mixing oil in my conditioner because I was being lazy with my DC. I just recently started again and my hair loves it!

I sometimes warm up a small amount of grease (I use Softee Coconut Oil) and mix it with my conditioner.

Okay. So how are you ladies mixing?? Are you just pouring the oils right into the conditioner bottle?? Do you mix it in your hand??

I mix honey and EVOO in my conditioners. Especially if I have one that I wasn't i,pressed with. Adding the honey and EVOO just seems to make them "work" better.

I keep a small bowl in my bathroom and stir it with my finger.

Honey and EVOO here too....I just pour them into the bottle then close the top of the bottle and shake to distribute.

I use a bowl or cup and stir with a chemical brush.

I have an empty gel container that I leave in the bathroom to mix things together in.

I've read that you should NEVER mix honey into large amounts of conditioner - the honey can interact with the water in the conditioner and the preservatives and your conditioner can MOLD.:barf:

I mix honey in a bowl with my Aubrey Honeysuckle Rose conditioner, its great!
I also put Peppermint EO in my JASON Biotin shampoo. I think it has mint/menthol in it already but it give it an extra kick. I also do mix outside of the bottle.
:p

I put honey and whatever oil I'm using into a little bowl and stick it in the microwave for about 10 seconds, just to warm it. Then if I'm using a milk powder I add it and then pour the conditioner out of the bottle on top if it all. I whip it up with a fork like I'm making an omelet until everything is combined and then I put it on my hair.

OMG, Thanks for the warning.

BTW, I NEVER add these products to my bottle. I just mix by hand, right before I apply it.

Yeah, that was going to be my question. Are ya'll talking about the honey that I would put on my biscuits???:lachen:

Good question. Last time I added honey to a condish mix, it ended up making my hair all sticky. I had to rewash all together....

I use regular old honey from the grocery store. It's never left my hair sticky, maybe because I mix it with oil and conditioner.

Sometimes I seal my leave in with a homemade mixture of olive butter, extra virgin olive oil, a dab of virgin coconut oil, and honey. It leaves my curls extra bouncy and silky. I mixed all of these ingredients in my double boiler and then poured the mixture into a jar and let it harden and cool. It's perfect for humid days, because honey is a humectant. It leaves my hair extra moisturized and healthy.

I got this idea from my cousin(hairdresser).I mix the conditioner in with my shampoo. Most shampoos can be stripping to my hair and the ones the moisturize give me bad build up on my hair and scalp.By controlling the levels and using the products that work well for me..I invented the perfect moisturizing shampoo!:)

EVOO or coconut oil - provides slip, helps detangle, locks in moisture
honey - draws moisture in, softens hair
rosemary oil - strengthens hair, darkens hair
peppermint oil - makes scalp tingle, cleans hair, makes hair smell yummy

I don't do all of these at the same time. I do them as needed.
