What kind of coconut oil do you have? I use the un-refined kind. I like castor oil but for shine I don't know, it's way to heavy for my fine hair. I only use it on the ends.I like the smell. The jury is still out as to what it actually does for my hair. You know what Pokahontas, I believe Castor Oil adds a better looking shine IMO. It could also be because my Coconut oil is not 100% though...

Extremely Soft & Shiny Hair.
It's the only oil I use to do my Caruso Roller Set. Curls are light, shiny and super bouncy.
I love coconut oil. I like the smell, shine, and strength it adds to my hair. I use unrefined coconut and Vatika oils.
I love the smell, shine and the fact it's known to prevent protein loss in hair.
My coconut oil has no smell! Which I love the smell of coconut. Mine is 100% pure, what brands are you buying that have a fragrance, and where are you buying them?
Oh back on topic...I love the shine that coconut oil provides as well...its great for rollersets sealing when your hair is wet! Comes out super shiny! Also it lasts a long time.

I have seen Coconut Oil at Wal-Mart in the grocery section where the cooking oils are for like $7 for a big container. Do you think this coconut oil could be used for the hair?
