I like the smell. The jury is still out as to what it actually does for my hair. You know what Pokahontas, I believe Castor Oil adds a better looking shine IMO. It could also be because my Coconut oil is not 100% though...

What kind of coconut oil do you have? I use the un-refined kind. I like castor oil but for shine I don't know, it's way to heavy for my fine hair. I only use it on the ends.

I love coconut oil. I like the smell, shine, and strength it adds to my hair. I use unrefined coconut and Vatika oils.

It's by African Angel. I bought my oils from the BSS. After I use them up though, I'm going to only get my oils from the health food store, so they will be 100%. My hair is always so thirsty though, I need better moisture. I LOVE the way castor oil is in when my hair is in a ponytail! I still haven't mastered the moisture/oil thing yet, so you may be right.

I love how shiny it leaves my hair. I found it is the best oil to seal in moisture. And, a little goes a long way.

The smell is absolutely :lick:
It keeps my hair soft and moisturized, and no matter how much I use it never leaves my hair feeling greasy.

My coconut oil has no smell! Which I love the smell of coconut. Mine is 100% pure, what brands are you buying that have a fragrance, and where are you buying them?

Oh back on topic...I love the shine that coconut oil provides as well...its great for rollersets sealing when your hair is wet! Comes out super shiny! Also it lasts a long time.

Besides it cosmetic effects:shine, conditioning/softness, sealing, I love the fact that it has been quantitatively proven to penetrate the shaft and offer repairing benefits.I also like the fact that it can be somewhat heavy, for when I want a pomade for my scalp and hair.

I love the smell and the shine I get from it. I love what it's doing to my hair. It just looks a lot thicker and longer in just 3 months. Might be an optical illusion...I'll see in a few days.

I also love the shine. I use it as a sealant and it gives my hair something extra. I also love how useful it is I use it for my hair, skin, lips and even as a makeup remover. It's an all in 1 product.

Extremely Soft & Shiny Hair.
It's the only oil I use to do my Caruso Roller Set. Curls are light, shiny and super bouncy.

When I first tried coconut oil several years ago, I hated it. My hair was hard and crunchy. I didn't realize that I was using the refined oil. Once I tried the unrefined oil, my strands immediately came to life they were so soft and shiny. Now I can not be without this oil. I add it to all of my oil mixtures.

I've begun using it for sealing leave-in conditioners-not sure why I stopped in the first place. It's SO MUCH BETTER than the unrefined jojoba oil I was using for sealing. When I was using heat, it gave me the straightest blowdry and press (the most silkiest feeling hair ever). I've always read via this forum that refined coconut oil isn't great so I always make sure that I get the unrefined/virgin coconut oil.

The one I used to buy from the Indian store had very little smell. The ORGANGIC EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut oil I got from the Vitamin Shoppe smells divinely of coconut. There is no added perfume. The scent is natural.

To answer Supergirl, I love it for its shine, and conditioning ability. I love to seal my hair with it and it just melts right in. My hair never has a greasy feel (something I abhor). Not to mention that I have always loved coconut everything!

Here's the one I buy... http://www.bestdeal.org/Merchant2/m...=VIRGIN-4&Category_Code=&Store_Code=Essential
I love it. I've smelled a few coconut oils and nothing even compares. :nono:

I use some unknown brand I found around the way...it's Caribbean Coconut oil....I really like it. I love Vatika oil as well.

My hair loves just about most things if coconut is an ingredient...I think I'm the biggest White Rain Tropical Coconut fan there is...that's my boo...:look:

I have seen Coconut Oil at Wal-Mart in the grocery section where the cooking oils are for like $7 for a big container. Do you think this coconut oil could be used for the hair?

It is the perfect oil for me. Lightweight, doesn't weigh my natchal hair down, brings it to life, locks in the moisture all day, helps perfect my twistouts, I could go on and on!
