I have been pondering this idea and i want to see if anybody has gone through it at all? I'm going to be graduating soon and entering corporate America soon. I have 1 more semester and a whole mess of internships lined up over the next year roughly. I've been thinking should I make this braided style my last braided style? I usually wear them for growth and to give my hair and I a break from each other, but soon I will have to look more professional I know for sure my comfy jean, sneaker, and t-shirt combo is gone i wonder if all my braids and weaves are too for the simple fact that it's not too corporate and in the places that I will be interning like the senate, and the white house and the securities and exchange commission and when i go to grad school I think people will be more apt to prejudge me if i wear these styles. So i was thinking after this weave comes out in june (or maybe before i start my internship) i will just have to start wearing my hair consistently. Has anyone experienced this.....having to change their normal hair style (braids and weaves) to be a part of corporate America....not to mention the damage i received from these last cornrows being too tight!!! I've been a corporate America for 8 yrs now, no braids for me. Some weaves from time to time, but mostly buns as a protective style. Actually I like wearing buns, they look so professionnal ... but honnestly, I've never been told to not wear braids by anyone, it's a personal choice. So go ahead and do what you feel is good for you.

you can wear braids and look very polished/professional, i think it depends on the style. know what i mean? there is a lady who works with my mother who STAYS in braids because she has no hair :look: but i will say they always look nice. they are usually long enough to put in a bun or some kind of updo. :yep:

same with weaves... yeah if you get some rainbow-colored yaki down to your butt people are prolly gonna look at you funny. :lachen: but if you pick colors and styles that match and are "conservative" i think you will be fine. best of luck in your future endeavors, however you decide to wear your hair. :grin:
 
umm yeah no rainbow pinks and reds for me black's fine........lol..........well thank you ladies...i think i need to start wearing my hair anyway..it's growing nicely and my SO just doesn't understand why i just don't style my own hair.. so i guess i will use my hair and when i get tired the most professional looking weave i can get..lol
