When you work out or do any sort of physically strenuous activity which leaves a bit of your hair moist/damp with perspiration, do you wash your hair that day/night? Are you supposed to?

I work out almost daily, even on days when I do not wash my hair, but I'm wondering am I supposed to wash anyway? For example, I washed yesterday and was planning on DCing tomorrow, but I worked out tonight......should I wash it again or would that be overload? I'm just wondering what's the "right" way to go about this since I am new to washing my own hair, and I haven't really seen it addressed.:perplexed

I work out 3-5 time a week and I don't sweat hardcore but I do sweat. I only wash my hair once a week because I am transitioning and I do not have time for that mess. But I wear braidouts during the week so my hair is cornrowed at the gym.

You can co wash your hair as often as you would like but I wouldn't recommend washing it with shampoo every other day. But cowashing would be totally fine if your hair likes cowashing.

Well that just depends on your personal preference. A lot of ladies on this forum exercise frequently throughout the week and some wash their hair after every workout and some just follow their normal schedule of washing once or twice per week. Like I when I workout I tried the washing my hair after every workout but that's just too much manipulation for me so now i'm back to just once or twice per week. My hair doesn't smell or anything after the workouts so I'm good :D So there's no "right way" to do it, just do what works for you girl : >

ITA with this answer. You just have to find what works for you and your lifestyle. I co-wash very often anyway, so frequent rinsing is normal for me. I have not had to increase my shampoo usage either due to exercising

I work out 6days a week I only cowash 2x wk and rinse the other 4days, but it's easy for me to do since I'm in braids.

Okay! So I am going to go ahead and co wash tonight then and still carry on my DC tomorrow. :) I just was making sure it's not considered washing too much since I did use shampoo and regular conditioner last night and then wet bunned from then til now. I guess that whole thing about washing your hair too much being bad for it thing just can't shake itself out of my head!

I co-wash whenever I do cardio (3-4 times a wk) because I sweat ALOT and I hate the way it feels. I still only shampoo with no sulfates once a week.
