Bett1e: Hmmm...I'll look for a used one on Amazon, then. Thanks! (Actually that wont work cause I'm kind of anal about new books. I like to be the first to mark em, dog ear 'em, etc.)

The used books on amazon are usually new or unmarked books.

I just got the book the other day, of course I tried the Nexxus Humtress w/heat for 15 min my hair felt kinda hard I sprayed with dew first I don't know if the combo don't mix, but he claims that it is "the only thing that will work".

I tell ya, I don't know..

I read this book as well and I have to agree it had some really good points about taking care of relaxed hair, as Dionne mentioned I told a friend of mine about hair needing moisture moisture moisture, and she thought I was crazy and washing my hair to often but when she read Shamboosie's book her attitude completely changed.

FYI I got the book from the library first to see if it is something I should spend money on. Just a thought, granted if your local library has the book /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Amazingly, Amazon always has a problem with my credit card so my order was cancelled. I'll check Books A Million at the mall tomorrow.

I have 4b hair and humectress did nothing for me.

i think shamboosies book is great but i disagree with him on certain points about the hot curling ends each day is ok if you use the creme press, bashing no-lye relaxers (there are quality one s out there loaded with conditioner to counteract any drying plus i know people with hair down the back who have only ever used no lye!, pushing only specific brands when we all know they will not necc work for everyone, 'feeding' the hair, i know what he means but i hate that phrase just like Cathy. also his tips on how to relax in order to avoid scalp burns ever contain nothing NEW! and, why the note about how he lost weight and his fatness in a book about hair!!!. lol

Shamboosie's book is an excellent reference tool. There is very comprehensive information on hair coloring, no-lye relaxers, applying relaxers correctly, etc. He is biased regarding his products Nexxus and Dudleys, but I use and like both. The regimen he uses can be used with any products, it's simple and not time consuming.

There is an even better book recently published called "The Science of Black Hair", by author Audrey Davis-Sivasothy. It is for both natural and relaxed hair and worth the money.

To me it was horrible... The first book I bought when I joined lhcf and it had NOTHING I could use or didn't already know and I knew nothing! lol
