Take a look in my album. I've got quite a bit of heat damage. I'm upset, but knew what could happen, and done it anyway. All I can do now is cut it off and start again.

Wait! Are you sure it's damaged????? Maybe instead of chopping your can just give it a little TLC.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I know you must be devastated! Don't feel bad - I've made mistakes with my natural hair too (coloring for one). Just take it as a lesson well learned. Cut off the straight ends and start anew - your hair will thrive once again. Feel better :)

I'm sorry this happened to you Guapa. :( I was looking at your pressed hair pics just a few days ago and thinking that the stylist had really pressed your hair "hard".
It still might curl up again after a few more washes. Wait awhile before you cut it all out. Did she use a pressing comb or just a flat-iron? And she used a curling iron too?

hey girl I'm sorry she did that to your hair, when I looked at it it looked like a straight relaxer. I think you should give it a couple more weeks before you cut it. I think that you should get some aphogee treatment or some nexxus Emergencee and follow up with a moisturizing treatment. THis may help. Also if you are timid about cutting then how about braids? You can braid your hair to protect it and gently trim out the damaged ends. Just a taught, hope it helps!

Guapa i'm really sorry to read about this. What i am glad about is how realistic and proactive you are being about the damage that has occured. I think cutting the damage off is a great place to start. That way you can baby your napps without the damaged ends hanging out. Good luck and i know your hair will be looking puff-alicious again in no time  -- jainygirl

Are you sure your hair is damaged beyond repair? I'm joining the chorus of people who suggest that you do a protein + moisture treatment and assess the health of your hair then. Don't be too hasty in chopping it all off! Maybe you can just nurse your hair back to health.:)

Guapa- Trusss, you are not alone;however, don't get so hasty with the cutting. I experienced this this summer ( there's a post about it,but I can't find it rightna) Anyway, it took a few washes, protein treatments, deep conditionings, etc for my hair to get kinky again. I would recommend that you dry those tears, wash your hair, do a protective style (two strand twists), rewash, retwist, etc and then see how it comes out. I know- it took my hair a while for it to kink up again- it takes alot of people's hair to kink up again. Chill, okay!!

Hey, I almost forgot.... Don't go back to that lady again!! If you want to have straight hair, girl do it yourself!! I did yesterday and lemme tell you, no other beautician will get my mula for flatironing again!

Guapa your hair came out really good, but after that wash....owe...I don't know what happen. But all together you have really good hair pictures. I love your album. Question: Are you in the military? Reason why I asked..because you been all over the world in your album.

Sorry that happened but I admire you from sharing your story. Sometimes my curiosity gets real strong and I want to try things "just one time" but a generous soul like yourself shares your mistake and keeps curious cats like me from sufferiing the unneccesary pain.

I appreciate your forthrightness and self awareness to do what you need to do to help the health of your hair.

Thank you.

I am so sorry to hear this Guapa1...I hope the ladies are right and maybe you will not have to cut your hair.

Best of luck!

sorry this happened to you. this is why im so afraid to press my hair.

ditto...this happened to my hair when I was getting it pressed on a constant basis. But at the time I didnt notice that my hair was damaged becasue i wasnt into hair care in the first place.

Hopefully you wont have to cut it Guapa.:(

Thank you ladies for all of your support. Am still away so haven't had cut it yet. Have put it in cornrow extentions, and will keep them in for a couple of weeks.

No I'm a flight attendant, at this moment, I'm sick in Chicago, and they won't let me go home.

No thank you Pookeylou, if I can help one person keep their napps nappilicious, then it hasn't been completely in vain.

Guapa1,

What all did your stylist do to straighten your hair with heat? Did she use a blowdryer, pressing comb, flat iron, curling iron, or a combination of some of those?

I agree. Even if your naps do "snap back" after a few washes or treatments, the damage has still been done. I would just cut it and start with 100% healthy hair. Sorry that happened to you :(

Sorry this happened, however, I don't think that you should cut it just yet. I would do some protein and deep conditioning treatments and nurse it back to health. You may not need to cut it at all.

If you do these things and it still doesn't work, then at least you tried to save your hair, instead of chopping it off first then wondering if there was anything that you could've done to save it. :)
