I would like to thank everyone for your hair care recommendations. Its because of you ladies that I have an unprecedent amount of new growth!

Leshia, your right, CASTOR OIL IS DA BOMB!!! Yes, it is gummy, but when I add it to my other oils it is not too bad.

Is PPB a winner, well the jury is still out. My nails are growing faster, which I hope means my hair is growing faster too.

Is Country Life Maxi-Hair a winner? Too soon to tell, but I will keep you posted.

Elliot, Congratulations on the new growth....

Thanks everyone.

My sister just walked by my room and she said "oh, your emailing your HAIR SISTERS again!" Just wait until September when I have some noticeable length...she is gonna be all up in my grill asking questions.

That's right girl. Then she'll be wanting to 'e-mail your HAIR SISTERS'.

Guys, please stop confusing me. I just read in one of HoneyRockett's thread that Castor Oil is detrimental, then I hear that people love it and it's good for you.

Oh please, help..

Elliott... what is it that you like about castor oil??? I'm about to buy some and I guess I'd just like to hear your testimony.

Hey Mindymouse,

It was not my intent to confuse you.

I did read Honeyrockett's post and believe that anything used in excess will have detrimental affects. Moreover, I can see why castor oil might be one of the products that the authors cite. It is extremely thick and gummy like and I don't doubt that it could clog pores--if used by excessively, by itself, and not washed out frequently (assuming a build up on the scalp).

I have added castor oil to my rosemary, avocado, sage, peppermint, and jojoba oil and its stickiness and gummy-like makeup disappears. Since adding castor oil to my concoction, my hair seems to have taken off again. I don't know whether I should attribute the growth to the castor oil, PP Biotin, or the Country Life Maxi-Hair...but my hair has really grown alot since my last touch up, which was 3 weeks ago. I hope this helps to clarify my original post and use of castor oil.

Thanks for asking.

Elliot could you please post the exact recipe of the stuff you mix your castor oil with? It looks very interesting and I would like to try it. I was just wondering if you could give the amounts of each that you use.

Thanks, Elliot, and yes I would like the exact receipe too, if you don't mind..

Here it is:

2 drops sage oil
2 drops peppermint oil
3-4 drops rosemary oil
1 teaspoon castor oil
1 teaspoon avocado oil
1 OVERFLOWING teaspoon jojoba oil

I must warn you that both castor oil and avocado oil are heavy and prolly will weigh you hair down, so this is best if you are just wearing your hair up in a protective style or planning to wash it in a day or two.

For a much lighter version, substitute the castor oil and the avocado oil for jojoba oil only.

Someone told me as a rule of thumb, for each 2-3 drops of essential oil, you need to add a teaspoon of base/carrier oil.

I just apply it to my scalp with a dropper and massage. I then spray with Nioxin Bliss and wrap my hair in a satin cloth for the evening. I think that one batch lasts me about a week but I really have not measured how much I use nightly. My hair is not "oily" when I finish massaging it, but I can call tell that something is on it weighing it down. Note: If your fingers are oily after you finish massaging, you have probably used too much.

Elliot, when you say drop do you mean an actual little drop or a dropper full?
