What can I do about my baby\'s SUPER DRY hair????

Hello All,

I've been viewing these boards for a while now and you all have been very helpful. Thanks.

Can someone please give me some advice on what to do about my daughter's hair? It's very thick and long but it's oh so dry. I do pretty much the same things I do to my hair to hers (except relax) and my hair is pretty healthy, and with the help of your tips over the last year, it seems like its getting longer by the second. No matter what I do her hair just won't hold moisture. Seems like two minutes after I do her hair it's dry again. I have to do something now before my baby ends up losing all that thick hair because it's not being cared for properly. PLEASE HELP.

My daughter used to have that problem. I use evoo or jojoba oil on her hair when wet root to tip. I seal her ends with one of these two every night. Remember to cover her hair at night or use a satin pillowcase for her too. My daughter has been sleeping on a satin pillowcase since age 2 and wearing a silk scarf since about age 3.

My friend has started doing this for my god daughter and you can see the difference.

Wow! I've been wondering about silk scarves for my baby's head. She's only 8 months though. Do you think they make satin crib sheets?

I use CD HHB on her hair and it works way better on hers than mine. I wash her hair every other day alt. between conditioners and shampoos but the following day the back edges get very dry.

I just tackled this problem with my daughter's hair, I use a spray bottle with oil/oil mix and water and I spray her hair every night. The oil mix I'm currently using for her hair is All ways natural (prosper),

its a mixture of sunflower oil, paraffin oil, wheat germ oil, avocado oil, castor oil, sesame oil, jojoba oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Lavendar oil, Lemongrass oil, Geranium oil, ylang ylang oil, chamomile oil and carrot oil.

I mix it 1 part water/ 1 part oil....spray it on every night..that's the only way I've battled the dryness. She too has very very thick hair. Her hair now stays moist and always soft to the touch.

I don't know about satin crib sheets but I found a pink satin pillowcase that I put on her pillowcase when she was small. My god daughter is eight months and she wears a little satiny scarf! I have to ask her mom does it stay on.
