And where did you find it? I'm not sure where to get this product. Any recs? And how does/did it work for you?

Thanks!

Lily of the desert. Whole Foods and Vitacost.com has it (at a good cost). Aloe vera and distilled water make up the bulk of my daily sprtiz mixes. It keeps my hair very soft and hydrated.

I had gotten mine from CVS. They sold their own brand. It worked okay for me.

ETA: It was in the suntan lotion area, though.

Currently - Lily of the Desert (found in any Health Food Store)

Want To Try - New Directions Pure Aloe Vera (no preservatives or additives)

Will Start Using Soon (exclusively) - Aloe Vera Plant

Thanks ladies!
The only one I see is the green gel one with lots of ingredients (many natural). Is this what is being used?- the type used for sun burns? OR is there a more natural brand that is used? I don't live in the US and so I can't get it at WF or other places right now.

Definitely Aubrey Organics Aloe Vera gel because it is a more pure form of Aloe...Smile.....I incorporate it into my hair and skin care regimens...It makes my hair and skin extra soft and healthy...smile....

I just want to let you know that the gel straight from inside the plant stinks to high heavens! I liked to believe that I have a strong stomach, but I was proven wrong.:nono:

I will say that the leaf I used was very long, so it was from an older plant. Maybe the young plants have a sweeter smell.

Lily of the Desert - Whole Foods
Fruit of the Earth- Rite Aid

Fruit of the Earth works best to me, it gives it a better hold *shrugs*

Thank you for your recommendations, everyone. I would love to start using aloe vera gel again but stupid me keeps on buying activator gel instead. :wallbash:

I'm gonna have to prepare myself then...my mother cut one of them open and told me she thinks it spoiled cause there's a brown leakage from it...I haven't seen it yet but I'll inspect...

Does Aloe Vera Plant spoil?

Does Aloe Vera Plant spoil?

I read somewhere that they spoil very quickly. Let me see if I can find that info.

Here's a snippet

....In reality, pure Aloe Juice has the same consistency and viscosity as water. Aloe Juice is created by reconstituting freeze dried, cryo-dried, or spray dried aloe powder with deionized water to a single strength equivalency (SSE). Once the Aloe Powder is reconstituted the finished product requires preservatives in order to remain stable. While there is Aloe Juice on the market that is simply pressed, Aloe leaves the resulting juice is unstable and not thick like Aloe Jelly. A fresh unpreserved Aloe Juice needs to be treated like any other food grade juice that you purchase at the grocery store. It requires refrigeration and has a short shelf life. This short shelf life makes it unfriendly for cosmetic purposes. We have tested the preservative free aloe juice products on the market and they tested positive for bacteria and mold. If you make a product using this unpreserved aloe your product becomes unstable, despite preservatives added to the finished product.

Big co-sign! I use the same brand and I love it. I use aloe vera juice and/or gel, rosewater glycerin and castor oil for my spritzes. I get all of my products from Whole Foods.

I picked up fruit of the earth first. Something told me to google the ingredients though.

I got to the first two and found they were toxic.
I never went on to open that bottle.
