I used WGO for a time twice. Both times my hair did grow but it looked thin and it actually seemed to be shedding and breaking more. I was thinking of trying it again wondering if maybe I was doin something wrong but I saw that some ppl on some of the hair care boards were having the same problem. Therefore I am going to cut my losses and start using coconut oil. Thas just how it worked out 4 me.
I use them both....WGO and the Coconut Oil. The WGO is my favorite. It does an excellent job of straightening out my new growth. After I apply my leave-ins and my S-Curl, I feel completed and protected when I seal my ends with the WGO. I cannot Ever be without this oil! I even like the scent.
Actually, coconut oil works better for me. It does an excellent job of softening and moisturizing my hair. I can put a little coconut oil on my hair and pick through it with no problems. I can't do that with WGO. My hair doesn't really absorb WGO as good as it does coconut oil.
I've come across some on a website and have seen it being sold as fractionated coconut oil and pure organic virgin coconut oil which is supposed to smell really rich. The price for the fractionated one is $4 for 8 oz. and $5.95 for 8 oz. of the organic virgin coconut oil. Is this a good price or can I find some cheaper than these prices?
I tried the Vatika Oil, which is mainly coconut oil, I liked my WGO better, plus I have to heat the coconut oil up to use it because it congeals at room temperature. I'm back to my old WGO mixed with Amla and Brahmi, (that reminds me, I need to order some more).
I ordered mine from www.natureswildchild.com It was around 9.12 for 16 oz. I got the virgin oil de coco creme. It's coconut oil extracted from fresh coconut milk. I keep mine at room temp. so I don't have any problems with it solidifying. Smells good, too!
I bought Wild Growth Hair Oil from a local Sally's BSS last month, but I think it was ancient and had been on the shelf too long. My hair is fine, and I couldn't get that sticky oil out of my new growth after 2 washes. I went to the salon for help, and my stylist gave me another lecture about not trying all these new products.
If you add acid to WGHO, a lot of tan sludge precipitates out. (ASK me how I know.) It contains a lot of stuff in suspension.
Coconut oil is awesome for me. It's greasy if I use too much, but it adds awesome shine to rollerset straight hair (see my June 18th 2004 pics), makes combing easier, and straightens hair slightly. Garden of Life coconut oil never makes my hair too sticky, and it washes out readily.
WGO did not work for me. I used it for six months. Now, I use coconut oil. It greatly softens my hair and my hair absorbs it. However, I don't think it makes my hair grow faster, but it makes my hair shiny.
I haven't tried Coconut Oil yet ( I plan on it), but I do use WGO. I loved it since day 1. It makes my hair so soft, and it has made it grow. I've only been using it for about a month, and I don't normally see this much growth at this point between touch-ups. I'm pleased with the results, and the smell doesn't even bother me.
I used WGO in the past and loved it. Loved the results and the shine, etc. Then I heard about the wonders of Olive Oil. Now my staple oil is Olive oil for everthing hair, skin, nails, cooking, etc....
