I was looking at some of my past posts and i've noticed i have come a looong way since i've joined LHCF. I came here with unhealthy base of neck length relaxed hair, then i transitioned, now i'm almost a full natural and my hair for the most part is pretty healthy! There's other ladies on this board who've come a long way too. One of my personal favs is Ayeisha. Her hair is gorgeous. I know there's many more so if any ladies would like to reflect c'mon on over!

I've come a long way also.. my hair was just a LITTLE bit past ear length when I came here.. now I'm a few inches past shoulder length (wont know exact amount til Sat).. slowly coming up on bra-strap length. My hair has also gotten a lot healthier.. when I came here I hardly washed my hair and when I did I use the blowdryer/curling iron. Now I either air dry or sit under the hooded dryer.. I only use direct heat (flat iron) ONCE a month and that's only on months when I'm more than 4wks post relaxer. I'm doing good..

I'll reflect with you. Since I've joined LHCF, I have learned so much about how to take care of my hair. When I first stumbled on the site, I thought--what in the world is this? Then, as I began to read the various threads, I saw that you ladies were on a quest for healthy hair. Link to latest comparison pic in siggy.

When I really started getting active on the board, my hair was just past my shoulders (at the beginning of 2004). I wish I had a pic of it then, so I can see how far I've come. While I did my own touch-ups, I always blowdried, and curled, and flatironed. This board taught me how to rollerset, airdry, and every other thing I can think of to keep my hair healthy. Not to mention introduce me to a ton of products and make me remember ones that I used to use in the past :) I have a lot of people to thank on here for their inspiration and assistance. I only hope one day I can return the favor!

Hugs,
Crys

I've definitely come a long way. When I first joined LHCF, I was tiring of relaxing my hair. I decided to transition not too long after that, but eventually gave in to the relaxer after about 3 months. I continued to relax for several months until I finally decided to give up relaxing for good in May of last year. I'm now 8 months into my transition and I am not looking back! :D

I've also come a loooong way since joining this board in 2002.
I joined the board is search of a remedy for my "postpartum" shedding... well, I learned there was nothing to be done about it...& just let it run it's course.

In the meanwhile, I began practicing a healthy regimen... I cut out the hot curlers, flat irons, crimpers & blow dryers...I started "AIRDRYING", doing protective styles & stretching out my touchups for 4-6 mths.... I was able to retain length & my hair began to THRIVE!

I became a pro at maintaining a healthy regimen on my relaxed hair. Then I became verrrry curious...I wanted to find out if I could manage my "natural" hair as well as I was managing my relaxed hair.... (( without heat usage at that!!)). Well, I made the decision to transition... THE ABSOLUTE BEST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE ABOUT MY HAIR!!

...ok, lemme finish this up :violin: cuz I might be putting folks to

After successfully transitioning for 18 mths, I finally chopped the relaxed hair, & there it was... my natural precious tresses... & my first time EVER seeing my hair natural (that I could remember) .....

..... LHCF followed along with me the entire way.... oh, the memories :violin:

I've come a long way regarding my misconceptions about hair and hair health in general :) I really appreciate and understand OTHER people's hair a lot more now thanks to LHCF.

oh wow thank you  I really appreciate it

I really dont have much to relfect on except that I came here with avg 10in relaxed locks....saw some people who were transitioning...and I bc'd the following day. I knew I wanted to be natural but I wasnt sure of how to do it. Talk about spontaneous

Now my hair has really taken off...I still suffer from breakage and some split ends but anything is better than how I was treating my hair in the past (hot pressing combs, brushing, infrequent washing). Its a miracle that I had below shoulder length hair with all of that abuse :nono:

So now Im ready to grow grow grow. Its gonna take awhile but Ill be patient :)

I must say that I've come a long way too. It's like night and day for me from crunchy, breaking, dried, thinning, burned, see-through hair to soft, thick, healthier, moving, longer and always moisturized hair.

The airdrying, no heat, washing 2x per week, protective styles, rollersetting, using leave-ins, stretching my relaxers -- all of these were new concepts for me!

I'm always learning more about hair. It continues to be a fun journey.:)
