or you can because there's not any rollers to interrupt your sleep :D

Last night was wash day and I was way too tired to go through the process of rollersetting my hair. I decided while in the shower to go back to and old style of mine the WET WRAP.

This style is great to just straigthen and dry your hair to do bantu knots, use Carusos, or any other dry style.

You simply wash your hair, apply leave-ins, and wrap your hair.

Wrapped hair:

Then let your hair airdry (if you have bookoos of time) or sit under the dome dryer. I sat under the dryer for 30 minutes, took a 2 hour nap, then sat back under the dryer for about 15 minutes. You can tell if your hair is dry by simply digging your fingers into the wrap.

Combed down result:

I haven't wet wrapped in forever. I might try this next wash day.
It turned out nice might I add.

I never could pull this off but I havent tried in a long time, this would work well after a perm me thinks:) .

I remember those wet wrap days. I think my hair would be too flat now if I tried it, but I'm glad u mentioned it, I'll use my lazy card for this in the future if I need it.

Just wanted to say I like the colour!

My hair is too short for wrapping though.

Thanks, but my cousin's hair is barely to her chin and she is able to wrap. The wet hair causes it to lay slick to the head regardless of the length. But when done on dry hair, one can use roller clips/hairpins to hold the hair that is not quite long enough. I say go for it, it's worth a try. :)

Urs came out really nice!!

I may try this sometimes after a fresh relaxer---but once I am a few weeks post my hair doesn't like being wrapped. :(

Questions: In ur after pic--did u flat iron it or is this how it fell after you combed it down?

What leave in did u use?

Was ur hair 100% wet or just damp?

TIA!

I think any shortlengthed hair is great for wet wrapping. I used to wet wrap my halle berry cut hair and it came out perfect every time. Shoot I've seen crackheads wrap their 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch hair all the time! Killing the gel!

LOL... I can't wrap after a while either, my newgrowth REBELS

This is exactly how it came out... no flat iron at all.

I used a dab of Humectress, a couple of sprays from my spray bottle mixture, and Silk Elements serum. When my hair was dry I rubbed a drop of Chi Silk Infusion on my hand a ran it over my wrapped hair before I combed it down.

My hair was dripping wet when I wrapped it.

I remember those wet wrap days too. I used to go to the salon every 2 weeks to get my hair washed and wrapped. I loved the way my hair used to come out. I just hated the drying time!! I would sit under the dryer for hours.

MsDee4 -
Your hair looks good!

:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen: I've heard about that! I think I saw one little segment and it had me rollin!

I used to do a wet wrap every time I washed! I would sit under the dryer for about an hour, and then go to sleep for the night. When I woke up, it would be dry.

Your wet wrap came out beautifully, MsDee. I really like the color.

I'm so glad to hear someone else who still wet wraps. I was also too tired to wet set my hair, so I did a wet wrap and sat under the dryer. My hair came out straight, silky, and with lots of body. I couldn't believe it. I'm doing the same thing again today after I use my Joico K-pak reconstructor.

Question: When u wet wrap it, how do u wrap it in a way that there is no frizzy bulk left at the top of the head? When I used to wet wrap it at the salon, it would come out perfect, but when I try at home I always had that one part at the top of my head that is frizzy. How do you warap it to eliminate that?

I got the dry wrap down but I could never wet wrap. My hair come out looking nothing like yours.

Did this on my last touch-up, and it came out soooo nice. I was too tired to rollerset and wanted to wear my hair in a straight style without heat and I must say sometime going back to the good old ways works everytime.

Your's came out nice and your hair is comming along nicely.

Hmm, several weeks ago I wanted to investigate wraps so that I could reduce the amount of heat in my routine, and when I went to do a search it seemed that there was a consensus that wet wrapping = damage. Is this only true for longer hair? What type of comb do you use to wrap?

I like wraps, but mine would never come out right. Yours look nice. What did you use to wrap (comb/brush)?

msdee, you are bringing back wonderful memories!!!!

My old stylist used to exclusively wet wrap my hair alllll the time and I always loved the results; my hair grew the longest during this time.

Your hair came out great and I love the color:)

This may seems strange, but I used to get frizzies until I started parting my hair across the top of my head, from ear to ear, and combing the whole front part to one side (like I'm about to make a ponytail on the side), then proceeding with the wrap from there. Just comb/ swoop the back up around the other side and integrate the hair. I used to part in the middle, but I always ended up with a lump and frizzies at my crown area.

Try not to comb back through to redistribute your hair after you've set the wrap. Light comb/ brush over is ok to get little hairs in place. Lightly apply favorite oil around outside of wrap after rubbing in your hands and voila! After you comb it down, it should be nice and sleek and you can change the style to how you want it (part on side, in middle, etc.)

Although I'm not the most descriptive person in the world, I hope that was helpful. Good luck. ;-)

Wrapping my hair, ESPECIALLY WHILE WET (this hair is no joke) entails toomuch manipulation for me and I can only imagine the breakage. even pre-LHCF I never did this.

But your hair came out so pretty.

But SexyHairFetish, you can always add a few big rollers at the top to get it smooth and add some curls so you don't have a flat look. People back in the hood used to do this and had the best hair. I never could do it though.
