I need to get it off my chest...... Feel free to join me

1. I didn't get around to wash day last week.
2. My hair has been in a baggied bun for the last 3 days until today, when I washed it.
3. I own multiple silk/satin bonnets, scarfs and pillowcase..... I cannot locate one right now, I know I saw one a couple of weeks ago. Sigh.... let me start looking now, I don't want to
4. I've bought 12 hair care products already this month. I feel like its all stuff that will enhance my hair's health and optimise my current HHJ. I also feel like I could turn back into a PJ in two blinks if I'm not careful.....

Love this thread. Will be so much fun.

I confess, I hate massaging my scalp. Unless I get 1/2" a week, yeah I'm not going to do it  I need to see some quick results before I feel like being bothered. I put the oil in and it gets about 30 seconds of half-heartedness and the end.

I confess, I deep conditioned may hair religiously every week from 2008 to 2019 and nothing. So, nope, no more weekly deep conditioning. I will deep condition, once a quarter when I clarify my hair.

I confess, that even if my hair ever grows to APL or beyond, I'm probably going to be in flat twist for the rest of my life. I just can't be bothered anymore.

I was looking into scalp massage for growth. My gosh, its a whole industry in itself! All these gadgets and gizmos, "special oils", I was a bit taken aback.

I know it works for some, I've never tried it, but was thinking about giving it a go with my own infused oils. It might work for me, but I won't know it I don't try.

If you're keeping your hair hydrated and conditioned with other products, you might well get away with once a quarter. Your hair will soon let you know if regular DC's are required.

Nothing wrong with twists for life IMO. If anything, they will just get bigger and juicier

I'm getting a bit tired of mixing clays. I love creating new things, but doing it weekly faithfully is getting boring. I might switch to yucca root for a bit.
My biggest concern about making my own products is the longevity of them. I would not like to have to do it weekly, I also have the worry of not physically being able to make stuff at times.

I've been looking up recipes and preservatives, most recipes say the products are good for 1 - 2 weeks. That's nowhere as long as I would like.

I'm glad you have an alternative as a back up :)

I missed my hair and took down my braids, but I haven’t felt like doing anything to it. I have just been cowashing and keeping under a silk-lined beanie until I am in “the mood”. It’s been 2 weeks. I planned to press it out and take my Real ID DMV photos but the DMV appointments have been impossible to get and walk-ins turned away. So, I am in a silk-lined beanie and the occasional short wig until I have reason to style it or get the urge to put it in an actual style. My planned "Easter press” may become an" Easter wig” to call it a day. The week before Easter is usually one of my favorite times to press my hair because it reminds me of childhood…but meh. I’m busy lol and the beanies/wigs tide me over for now.

When I leave my hair alone and keep it moisturized it feels like fresh bundles straight out the scalp on style day. So, I’m in no hurry.

The freezer is your best friend with DIY. I'm making batches of Fenugreek Growth Spray this week for KBs and will freeze excess. Plan for it to be a months supply or more :)

Good to have Tee Tree oil and Vitamin E on hand as natural preservative/antimicrobials for 1 to 2 weeks

You really DID make a confessional thread! :lachen:

Well then, I confess I don't like my hair right now :look:

I don't like how it looks when it's down. It looks like I'm going through another awkward length phase. It's definitely growing, I think I'll be happy with it once I hit my goal length.

I also wish I had loopier curls instead of these crinkle fry looking S waves.

I struggle to do my hair. I want to wash and Co-Wash frequently throughout the week because my hair loves water and conditioner, but I'm lucky if I do it in a week. :cantlook:

I have seen a couple of videos where people have said some of their products didn't freeze well/split. I imagine something like a water based scalp spray should be fine though.

I have ordered vitamin e oil, I need to delve into other natural preservatives and stabilisers for sure. I very much dislike the smell of tea tree/eucalyptus oils lol.

Honestly, your hair is beautiful! I just saw your updated pic in the challenge so have to say, it's looking amazing, moisturised and healthy ❤️

The more you describe your hair the more it reminds me of mine. My hair's love for water and conditioner was what made me try out cowashing as a teen. It worked so well for me and I really think it made my hair grow, I didn't notice at the time, but looking back, when I cowashed everyday, or every other day, the results were really good.

It's difficult to find the time to do it so frequently now and the weather over here is very unpredictable, if we get some good weather, I will have a good try. I also would like an additional 4 hours added to a day, without taking any sleep hours away, wash day routines can be long even when it's a simple regimen.

I have to straighten my hair this week ahead of my microneedling appointment. I'm scared to see my hair straight because it will emphasize my relatively thin hair while in a "dread shed" phase. I'm excited to fast forward this journey.

I've been DIYing for about 12 years now. Over the years I've slowly transitioned to not using store-bought stuff on my own hair, but still use them on the kiddos.

I've come up with a routine for clay washing that I love, but my confession is that I hate walking to the basement to find the ingredients and some of the tools, then having to walk back downstairs to put them away. It's laziness, but whatever. I still have to walk downstairs for the yucca, but I don't feel the desire to get as fancy with my recipes as I do with the clay.

When I make lotions, I make huge batches so that I don't have to make anymore for about 6 months. It's about that time and I'll have to make a new batch. It's so time consuming, but worth it. Generally speaking, I try not to make things that need to be stored in the fridge.

I'm going to have tobhit you up for some preservation tips for sure.....

I confess I'm planning to go natural but I'm hair lazy. I don't have the patience for long detangling sessions and wash days. I'm also style-challenged. I find having hair fall down my face softens my look. Don't know how I will achieve this with type 4 hair. I'm only 7 months into my new growth but I'm so conflicted. I don't even know what to do with my hair after I take out my current braids. I have two textures, I'm tempted to cut the relaxed part off. It's already breaking anyway. I'm thinking of getting type 4 human hair and making a wig so I can practice before my hair gets longer. But I'm looking at the prices and I'm discouraged. But putting another braid in will cost more than the human hair. Hmm...

I go through this too. I watch body doubling videos on YouTube that make you feel like you have a friend to motivate you to shower and do your hair, etc. it really helps.
I find doing that over the phone very useful, I can get so much done while chatting on the phone, it's definitely like having company for things like chores, even though they'renot in the room with me.. By the time I finish a marathon call, I've achieved so much, that I may otherwise have procrastinated.

That sounds tough. I have gone through my followed threads and found a few that you might find useful.
