I am getting married in Barbados in less than 2 weeks and am trying to decide what to do with my hair. I am debating between micros and a sew in. I know there are some drawbacks to micros but I am torn because I will be on the island for 10 days and my hair gets really frizzy. I am worried I will do more damage trying to blend my hair with the weave. What do you ladies think?

If you get a weave, you might want to get a curly/wet and wavy type weave so it'll be easier to have that tousled look without you having to do a lot of work.

I personally don't like micros, so I can't say. I know if you're planning to get in the water alot, that's a whole lotta heavy hair to be walking around with wet. On the other hand, it might be more convenient.

I agree, I'm not a huge fan of micros, but this is the route I would probably take because when I step out if that water I don't want to have to worry about doing anything to my own hair except maybe rinsing it out later. I wore a sew in to Florida one year. 16 in. wet & wavy, I LOVED IT!!! I got on all the water rides I wanted too with no problem, swam, even got caught in the rain, the only setback........ trying to keep the front blended the rest of the hair while it was wet. I will say being in a warmer climate, the weaved hair dried fast & it wasn't heavy at all. If you go for the braids maybe you could put them up till they dry a bit, so it won't be so much tension on your own hair. Have fun!!! Congrats.

Can you get a full head...so that you dont have to worry about blending. Also what kinda hair are you trying to use, dont want you to be on the island worrying about trying to flatiron and make it decent everyday.

Also there is nothing wrong with micro but the person that gets them. Its either the owner is damaging them by pulling hair up tight or not tell the braider to be gentle with the edges. You can also have tha same problem with a sew-in.

I didn't want to get a full head because I want to wear my hair up for the wedding and didn't think it would look realistic with a full head. I think I am going to lean towards getting the weave at a salon there and having her pin it up but then I don't know how I will make it look decent for the honeymoon. My hair does NOT blend with wet and wavy tracks well at all. Thanks for the responses so far!

I never do Micro Braids, they're just too little. And they pull too much.
This is my adjusted version of Micros. I call them mini braids. They don't do damage to the hairline.

if you decide to do this, feel free to take this photo with you to the braider so that they understand the size you desire.

Just note that if you go swimming, don't leave them loose or they'll get tangled. You need to secure them in 1 or 2 ponytails and then wrap the ends into a bun or a big braid.
