Wearing Wigs...

So my mom is trying to grow her extremely damaged hair. Her hairline is gone but she's trying to bring it back using a host of things and wearing wigs till her hair comes back. The problem is that she says the wig "rubs the hair out". I know a lot of people here use wigs for hair growth so my question is: Is the "rubbing out" avoidable? Is there a incorrect way to wear a wig that damages the hair?
Thanks for replies

I have only worn a wig 2x, but I didn't have that problem. Maybe she needs a tighter wig cap, or to use one if she doesnt. Maybe its the way she puts her hair when it is in the wig cap? I wrapped my hair or put it into a french braid and it was fine.

Try putting extra moisturizer around the edges. It will keep her hair extra soft and when the wig cap slides on her edges they wont dry out. The edges are probably too dry and wearing the cap all day makes them lose moisture so over-moisturizing the problem spots could be a solution. Or have her make sure that the wig cap sits on her skin not her edges. There are also caps that do not have that extra tight lining, they are hard to find but they dont rub too much.

What material is her cap made out of? She should only use satin, sateen, or silk. What type of wig is she wearing? Does it have clips? She might want to avoid the clips for now since she has a damaged hairline. HTH

I place my wig cap on my fivehead so that it's not rubbing against my hairline. Gives me a smaller forehead too, which in my case is a good thing lol
