Try putting shampoo in the palms of your hands and just finger the shampoo throughout your scalp. Your scalp is the focus when shampooing and by doing that in the shower your itchies may go away...then rinse shampoo out thoroughly to make sure no build up is left behind. I didn't know if it was your real hair that is cornrowed or if you have it weaved in cornrows..if it's weave then, You can dilute some conditioner with water in a spray bottle and squirt your braids.. squeeze the hair and then rinse out in the shower as well.. This is just what I would do.. HTH:)

Wow, how did you get to 17 weeks with cornrows? Do you mean 17 weeks post without a touch-up because 17 wk.s is like 4 months. I only wear my individual braids for about 2 months.

I wash mine in the shower with my back facing the shower head.

I have lots of small individual twists using my own hair its a must i try to keep mines up for 5 months or more we'll see can i do this.

chica, yes I mean 17 weeks without a touchup, I remove my cornrows every 2 weeks, under a half wig, however I get the itchies, once I am over 10 weeks post,

I put a capful of shampoo in a plastic bottle, add about 16oz of water, shake it, pour it over my wet braids, wait a few minutes then rinse. I do this 2X/week maybe more depending on my activity level.

Thanks sareca! That was a good tip. I love your twist.

same here:) : diluted poo and conditionner!

I used to wear the cornrows below my wig. I have terrible itches from a burnt scalp that lasted for 2mths. The only thing that worked for me was tea tree. I bought a 100% tea tree shampoo and a conditioner with tea tree all by fantasia and i dont have that problem any more.

Try a "dry" or "leave in" shampoo. Or you can mix shampoo with water, put it in a spray bottle and spray your scalp everyday with it. Sort of like cleansing the scalp!

This is what I have been doing and it was a life saver because that NG was just too much to deal with at the time. I DC w/Jasons Biotin conditioner because it was really light, moisturizing and rinsed out easy.

Thanks! :) I do the same thing with my leave-in conditioner except with conditioner I focus on the braids and with diluted poo I focus on the scalp.
