Washing hair with twists

I don't personally because I like doing smaller twists and find that 1. it matts up a style that could otherwise last 3 weeks. and 2. it causes wicked tangles. But I know some ladies do this with no issues (babyblue comes to mind but there are plenty others). You could try pouring diluted shampoo/water/conditioner ad use the pads of your fingers to clean the scalp.

Yep, some do wash their twists--but I can't. I tried Cond. washing and my hair was soooo frizzy and began to mesh together after 2 weeks. It was crazy getting those things out!

But I do spritz them. You could do a Cond. spritz or Rosemary spritz to keep them feeling fresh and moisurized. If you do spritz, I would sugg. not doing too much manipulation while they are wet (rubbing them or running your hands throught them) b/c they will still get frizzy.

I read somewhere that if you put a kneehigh stocking on your head first then just let the water run through and squeeze diluted shampoo through it without really manipulating them you can freshen them up. But I haven't tried it yet. I'm gonna put in some twists this weekend so by next week, I might give it a try.

Yes, I wash my hair with twists... but only once or twice. I'm an everyday washer, so if i'm washing with twists, i'm refreshing some of those twists in the shower, making sure nothing matts up, and making sure conditioner gets through everything... I haven't had a problem with this method, even when i do the smaller twists.

The key is to be gentle when your hair is wet, and also, water will make some of the twists not want to stay twisted.... let those go, and do them when your hair begins to dry.

I guess those are my only suggestions...
but again, i only wash my hair in twists as a means to an end, always as a transitionary style, never the permanent one to leave in...

I use MTG and I kind of wanted to wash my hair without having to re-twist my hair. No, I don't ever intend to loc my hair up. Its too permanant. Thanks for the advise. Do you use the stcking cap method that was mentioned earlier?

I wash my hair while twisted as well about 2-3 times a week. When I use shampoo, I only use a small amount, using the pads of my fingers and concentrating on the scalp. I slather Kenra MC all over, rinse, apply Pantene Frizz-Control Treatment (my leave-in), and use a little EVOO mainly on the last few inches of my hair.

I have been doing this since last August, and the condition of my hair has improved dramatically.

i plan on getting twists (my own hair) and washing at least once a week. i was hoping to use a net that you can tie tightly on your head making sure all of the twists lie flat when the net it tied. i think it's best to just concentrate on the scalp and let the conditioner sit on the hair for a few minutes and then thoroughly rinse then spray with a leave it conditioner.
