Was your surprise engagement really a SURPRISE?

Title correction: WAS your surprise engagement really a surprise?

Did anyone almost mess up their “surprise” engagement by being noisy or impatient? If so, what happened to clue you in?
Did you confess or just keep with the program?
Did your finance ever found out that you knew ahead of time?

I'm divorced. But I almost messed up mine. We went to a movie that day and somebody was blowing up his phone. He eventually stepped outside to take the call. I was VERY upset about it and after it took him too long to come back, I went out there looking for him. It was friends/family calling him about the details of the engagement dinner he had planned.

But yes, it was a surprise. I was very pissed at him for the rest of the day up until the proposal happened.

Not engaged yet, but I was just thinking about this the other day. My boyfriend of 3 1/2 years and I have been discussing getting married and me being nosy, asked him when did he think it would be ideal to get married. He said next year. Then I asked did he know when he was gonna propose and he said yes. I didn't ask him anymore questions 'cause I'm afraid I'm already ruining the surprise of the engagement by knowing he has already planned a proposal. Thank goodness I don't know the exact date of when he plans to propose. There's no telling what I would do lol.

That's exciting. I'm excited for you. :yep: The anticipation is going to be fun.

Yes, it is. I'm thinking that he could propose any time between now and early next year. My birthday is in February and so is Valentine's Day, so I would not be surprised if he proposed then.

My engagement was a surprise. We had previously talked about our future together and getting married so I knew 2013 would be the year, little did I know my Hubby would propose the minute the ball dropped for NYE 2013. I was caught off guard but so over the moon that he did it then. We planned our wedding in less then a year and just got married on 10/12-the best day of my life :D

My engagement wasn't a surprise. FH tried so hard, bless his heart, but he was just so excited in the few weeks leading up to it that I knew he was going to propose.

I acted surprised at the time because I didn't want to hurt his feelings but later I confessed that I knew. For a while I felt a little bad for bursting his bubble but I knew I couldn't keep up with that charade for the rest of our lives.

We went away to a romantic log cabin for the weekend and I knew it was going to happen that weekend and it did. The only thing I didn't know was exactly which day. I do wish it had been more of a complete surprise but in the end I got a gorgeous diamond ring and an amazing man to share my life with so that's all that matters.

I knew that he was going to do it because we discussed it and he told me that he picked a ring and wanted to show me a picture. I didn't want to see it. He had the ring for a very long time (I saw the FedEx envelope and insurance papers) and then he did it randomly, so that part was a huge surprise.

It was a semi surprise hahaha...I had a feeling he was going to do it but I had the place where he did it all wrong.
