Welcome! :welcome3:

I did the exact same thing only a month ago! I already can no longer see my scalp, so it will def grow back in no time! :yep:

Just keep your scalp moisturized and oiled (I use a mix of peppermint, rosemary, olive, sometimes add emu and a pinch of crushed garlic in a color applicator bottle and apply daily).

Enjoy!

Welcome & I look forward to seeing & reading about your progress. Please post more pics of your new cut. I think you look great!

Hello Lovely Ladies of LHCF!

It's nice to stop lurkin' and actually have some input for once. I'm LadyFayard, and I'm a NEWBIE TOO! I'd been researching for a few months, stalking the threads, just wondering what I should do with my hair.

And wouldn't you know? I figured it out:

BiG ChOp...Virtually NO TRANSITION

I'd like to share a little of my story with the gift of PICS if you don't mind...

Can anyone spot why I was SO FRUSTRATED?!?!

Yup, that's right. My hair stayed the same for 4 years straight. Never getting past my ears. It was an endless cycle of: GROW, RELAX, BREAK, GROW, RELAX, BREAK, GROW, RELAX, BREAK. And no matter how many appts I had with my stylist (who does GREAT WORK btw, and will probably strangle me when she sees what I did.), I just couldn't maintain any length that I'd gain. Alot of people have B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L relaxed hair (the hair porn on here is INSANE!), but no matter what products I bought/time I invested, I couldn't give my hair what it needed.

THIS WAS THE LAST STRAW:

Can you see that? I'd spent hundreds of dollars on MOTIONS, and APHOGEE PRODUCTS, CHI and BIOSILK SERUMS, flatironed once a week (never blow dried, air dry only), watched EVERY ATEYAAA tutorial (still love her!), and my obssession got me that ^^^. A pile of dry, broken, dusty hay! That picture was taken after spending 1 hour with plastic cap on my head full of Deep Conditioner. Harumph!:wallbash:

Soooooo...I did it:

That reaction shot, always makes me laugh! But yes, I started from scratch. I'm not really looking for a relaxer any time soon, so I was wondering if you guys could help me out!

Tricks and Tips anyone? I don't really have much to work with right now (a wee bit of fuzzy-fuzz, I'm thinkin' I'm a 4b??), but I'd appreciate some help.

Thanks for checking out my initiation. Before I joined, I checked this place out, and I was really impressed by the amount of positivity, and I hope you enjoy experiencing this with me!

so...Do I get to stay? :perplexed

Hey look at it this way, at least you had some support. I did a buzz cut by myself with my boyfriend's clippers. Thank goodness I did his hair a couple of times or it wouldn't be pretty! My issues were dryness and breakage from thyroid. and i just wanted all the relaxed hair gone like yesterday!

So I understand what you're going through. But don't you just feel lighter? like a weight has been lifted? You're probably also in shock, but you'll get over that. Right now you don't need to do much, but eventually it'll grow back. I recommend braiding it up at an akward stage as soon as you have enough hair, but that's just me. That's how I grew mine out w/o wanting to re buzz it. Then you'll have other probs like detang after reaching longer lengths but again that's a good problem. See you at your dream length!

welcome! i see you're starting from a shaved head just like i did. gone-wit-yo-bad-self:) get ready to learn a lot & have fun along the way. enjoy your journey:yep::yep::yep:

Can I please ask you about the "emu" and the "garlic"? I'm not really sure what they are used for, and I'm pretty sure my "great value" walmart jar of crushed garlic will NOT do the trick.

I'm pretty sure you can get the ppmt and rosemary oil at drug stores...Am I right? *confuzzled*

tkj25, I love your fotki, but I just have 2 problems:

1.NOT ENOUGH PICTURES! (lol...I'll stop being sarcastic now...I'm sorry)

2. I do NOT look as good as you with my shaved head.

And I don't like that length you have, it's sick'nin!

Wait...that's 3 problems.

Ah well, I'll leave that list for your haters alright?

Thanks again.

:) Thanks for the encouragement, and I'll be staying tuned for when you join me in BCland. Hmmm...What CAN I do with my hair now? Here are some of the things I did before:

Not even the BEST NIGERIAN HAIR BRAIDING GENIUS can catch what I have now...

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be BANNED from my regular shop after this...But, I don't think a sew-in will do the job either...

Of course I can't wear a wig 'cuz....Heeeeeeyyyy, wait a minute....???

Yes, I've GOT IT! In between, moisturizing and rocking my little spriglets, I could wear a wig. Or do my spriggies need to breathe?

Good Idea/Bad Idea?

Any MORE Ideas?

Congrats on your courage and BC. Getting to know your hair will be such an adventurous ride. And since you're starting with a "baby", you'll be so familiar with what your hair likes by the time it's longer that detangling will be a breeze for you.

In response to the bold, my advice is to incorporate shampoo, conditioning (alternating with DC) and ACV rinse (I love shampoo coz I love a squeaky clean scalp)...or you may find CW works better for you. Try both and decide. Then this is what I need you to give a try to before you buy anything else:

  • Using S Curl as your leave-in. Spray your hair after towel drying and baggy at night ie wear a plastic cap to bed. You won't need to apply anymore next morning and your hair will feel soft and moisturized. BTW, as your hair gets longer, you may find that the day of washing after applying to damp hair, your hair may dry and feel a bit rough by evening. If so, apply some more before baggying and the next morning, you will have hair that is so moisturized and that will stay that way until the day you wash again w/o you needing to reapply. As soon as you have enough length to plait, be sure to put it into big plait before baggying as this will make AM combing a breeze. Your hair will thank you if this works for you. So will your pocket as you'll have missed the PJ bus.

I'm replying to this post but anyone can answer....

I don't know much about S-Curl, except for JOHNNY GILL was killin' it when I was a Tiny Tot for Christ. (my-my-my-mah-mah-mah-my... u remember:grin:).

Will it change the texture of my hair?
Will it dry out my hair like a Jheri Curl?
Is there any other alternative that can BUST MY NAPS, but not permanently???:ohwell:

:bump:

Yeah....I'm gonna BEG someone to please answer my questions I posted up there. I'm pretty lost.

Oh...And guess whose got an album? :woot:

*finger wag* THIS GUY! I put it up, your opinions are welcome.

Thank you bunches.

Congrat Lady,
We have a very simular hair story. relax, break, relax.
I have been Natural since 07 and I will never go back!!!!!

My hair is thriving in it's natural state, and i think it's happier

Don't Relax your hair at least not for a while enjoy what God gave you
you will fall in love with it!!!

I didnt get a chance to read all of the threads, but the first thing i thought when i read your situation was that your hair just cant take a relaxer.

Not everyones hair can take a relaxer. Ive tried a relaxer on three seperate occassions and after the 7month mark my hair turns to hay.
