I'm nowhere near waist length but if you measure the distance you have to go, plus know how much your hair grows in a month you could figure out an approximate timeline for your goal.

Average is 1/2 an inch and if you plan on getting trims take that into account too

Yea I know he will thats not the reason im doing its just the look i want for my hairstyle, i just want my curls to lay at a certain length.

I'm scrapping HL now so I will try to answer. I can't remember specifically, but MBL is like 2 1/2 inches from WL. My hair grows at an average rate 0.5 in a month. So it took around about 6 months for my hair to get to WL from MBL.
