I just had discussion about vitamin E, she swears that vitamin E grew does wonders for her hair. She told me the she recommended Vitamin E to another lady who had problems growing her hair. She said that the lady told her that her hair has never been long and she doubted that it would work, but the lady took her advice anyway and started taking vitamin e, she got braids and kept them in for 6 months and her hair grew sustantially. She bought vitamin E oil and put it in some juice and drank it daily.
My mother took Vitamin E faithfully for years...and she had a beautiful head of hair. I know that it makes hair stronger and shiny. It also aids in helping to prevent gray hair. I added it back into my vitamin regimen last month.
A natural E complex is excellent for the growth and condition of your hair. I take 400IU daily and would not be without it. I think it is especially helpful if your hair tends to get dry and mine does.
I'm ashamed to say that I should have listened to my mom as I was growing up about the value of Vitamin E. I added it to my hair growing out regime very late in the game. Great results. It, along with essential fatty acids, really feeds the follicles.
Like Erica, my mom had a beautiful head of hair her whole life and it grew faster than mine.
If you are thinking of taking it, remember to purchase "natural" Vitamin E, whether you get a complex with all the tocopherols (alpha, beta, gamma and delta) or just straight alpha. Natural E is twice as potent as the synthetic. How do you tell? Check the label for "d". You want this, NOT "dl" or anything not clearly marked.
The upper limit is 1200IU daily. Usually, if your hair is not severely damaged 400IU is plenty. If the damage is more than you would like, 600IU for a shorter period may be recommended. Remember that E thins the blood so if you are on any type of blood thinner, be sure to check with your physician, pharmacist, etc.
I use it on the ends of my hair and it seems to aid my hair in growth because it retains moisture on the ends of my hair. I have very little breakage and haven't seen any awhile.
I use to use vitamin e on my hairline because of the thinness my excess wear of the ponytail caused and it helped a lot .
*added tip try a vitamin e mask i use to do them once a week and they made my skin really soft and flawless looking
and at the time I not sure weather it was the vit e mask or the intake of vitamin but one of them had my eyelash growing like crazy my dad even asked me if I had false lashes on
My friend said she uses the actual capsules and massage the liquid on her scalp, but her hair has been about the same length since we both started college almost 3 years ago.
