Vigorol Hair Relaxer

Ladies, what do you think of the vigorol hair relaxer? My mom bought some today. She mentioned that she needed something to help keep her roots straight. She is a natural 4b who straightens once a week.

I don't think she is going to see much of a difference. It may soften the curl just a bit to make combing easier. I don't remember if it helped with reversion.

It's been too long since I've used this product to give you an adequate recommendation. But I will help you bump the thread in case someone else knows

I have 3c hair and this stuff broke my hair to bits. I would not recommend.

DON'T DO IT! I ruined 3 years worth of growth with this stuff. I was trying to "'loosen my curl pattern" and wound up bald headed. I was so devastated.

Same here - my mother used it on me in the early 70s and my hair went from MBL to SL. It did grow back after all the processed hair broke off, however - so I guess it didn't damage my scalp or follicles.

Yep, that's it. I think it may be Clorox mixed with cyanide.

I used it when I had a TWA so it was easy to repair damage -- go to Astor Place and get another ceasar cut.

If your mom is natural than it is fine to use. It will loosen the curl pattern and she must take care of it because it is a relaxer. YOU CAN'T use this with a lye or no lye (sodium hydroxide) relaxed ends because it will break your hair off. so if she already has relaxed hair with lye or no lye then it is best not to use this.

I thought it was gone long ago.

This was my first relaxer.

And it ate my shoulder length hair to a ragged twa in 4/5 days.

Please tell Mom I said................
