Video: 3 Products You're Using Incorrectly And How It's Screwing Up Your Hair

This might be of interest, especially for those struggling with chronically dry hair.

My issue though: We keep hearing conflicting information about oils! All over the internet some are described as penetrating (and thus "moisturizing"???), and others are not. Saying that no oil moisturizes . . . Hmm. :scratchchin:

Food for thought, anyway.

Ooh, that was too long, lol. I couldn't watch the whole video. I understand her stance, but I think it's too broad.

My understanding is that penetrating the shaft isn't the definition of hair moisturization. Rather the presence of some type of water is what moisture is. So while some oils penetrate the shaft, they are simply nourishing as @shortdub78 stated, but not moisturizing.

Oils are also emollient. Some oils can make hair soft and pliable. Sometimes oils serve as lubricants too. I think the hair community got caught up in a false dichotomy of moisturizing vs sealing when it comes to oils without realizing oils have other purposes too.
