Timely. Thank you. I was just encouraging myself today by thinking of Paul and Silas and that prison experience. When things go wrong I can sometimes fall into the trap of not praising God, but that will only make the situation worse.
Amen @sidney. One of my favorite songs is about this topic. Here's the link to the song and the lyrics are below the link if you want to sing along or learn it by heart as I have. It always gives me so much peace no matter what I'm going through to praise God. Songs of worship and praise are my favorite songs of all!
When you're up against a struggle
That shatters all your dreams
And your hopes have been cruelly crushed
By Satan's manifested scheme
And you feel the urge within you
To submit to earthly fears
Don't let the faith you're standing in
Seem to disappear
Praise the Lord
He can work through those who praise Him
Praise the Lord
For our God inhabits praise
Praise the Lord
For the chains that seem to bind you
Serve only to remind you
That they drop powerless behind you
When you praise Him
Now Satan is a liar
And he wants to make us think
That we are paupers when he knows himself
We're the children of a King
So lift up the mighty shield of faith
For the battle must be won
You know that Jesus Christ is risen
So the work's already done

I agree with you huxtable, that's when we need to praise him the most because praise will help us to be victorious. Wallowing only leads to depression or bitterness.
Just revisiting this gem of a post.... so filled with truth. I recall the many occasions of going through and turning to praise/worship to get through. Yes, there is power in praise...It's not something to say, but to live out...
