Hi I have fine hair that is 4a/b. It is very soft and shoulder length. I am wondering if any ladies on here think I can acheive bra strap by having my hair washed at a salon very week and then blowdried/ straightened. I would handle my hair minimally after this.

Then after a day or two I would wear a ponytail every day until the next wash. I work out so I do need to wash my hair at least once a week.

This is a regime I can handle but would it work. My hair is almost apl despite my constant abuse including bleach and colour after colour so it is not extremely weak but the ends are very bad at the moment and I am going for a trim today with a view to a sort of fresh start.

My hair is also fine (3c/4a) and blowdrying weekly destroyed my hair. Even though I had a decent length the ends looked unhealthy. What worked for me were rollersets, they saved my ends. I think the key to achieving brastrap is to minimize your direct heat, and always put a protectant on your hair when using any type of heat, especially the ends. You've proved that your hair can reach considerable length. I think you can obtain the length you want with some minor adjustments.

I also have fine hair and I find that I need a low heat/no heat regimen. You will see a difference in you hair especially the ends which you are trying to work on. Since you already do things like bleach your hair it needs some rest and TLC.

What if you just wash condition and let it airdry in braids/plaits? it's very low maintenance. The pic in my signature was just from 2 plaits. You'll also have more volume.:)

I totally agree. Rollersets help me to maintain length when I am not
wearing braids. They also are really cute and feminine. Be careful when going to the beauty shop that they don't be cutting on your hair too much.

If you really want to use heat, you could adopt a regimen like Cathy Howse which includes a medium protein reconstructor every week. How long do they allow your hair to deep condition at the salon, and are you bringing your own products or allowing the stylist to decide what to use? You could try it for a month or 2, and do an assessment of whether your hair is being damaged.

I have fine hair as well & I have to agree with the other ladies. Blowdrying my hair is a BIG :nono: For me rollersetting and keeping my ends moisturized are 2 of the most beneficial things I do for my hair  hth
