I did a little too much on Black Friday, and I probably don't need anything until Mother's Day and possibly all of next year, except rollersetting lotion. I'm recommitting to this challenge, and I put myself on a no-buy until Mother's Day. I even publicly proclaimed it on blog, so I can't back out of it. :lachen:

^^^^I have been publicly proclaiming it all over this forum since October and running out and buying something the next day. I am serious this time.

Used up DB Cocoa Bean Hair Whip. I will repurchase when I am down to 1 16 oz bottle of moisturizer left.

I hope Ms. @JJamiah doesn't mind me starting Session 3. I knows she's been super swamped with school. SO HERE IT IS LADIES  If you don't see your name and want to join, Please thank this post and YOUR IN :yep: . Thanks Ladies and Lets USE IT UP in 2013 Sessions are as follows: Session 1 - Jan. 1, 2013 - April 30, 2013 DONE! Session 2 - May 1, 2013 - August 31, 2013 DONE! Session 3 - Sept. 1, 2013 - December 31, 2013 IN PROGRESS! The Rules: 1. Use the suggested categories or add categories of your own, list your stash within 5 days of joining the challenge. If you have a REALLY Big stash, put in a little at a time. But keep your list updated with the products used, given away, exchanged, etc. Posting a starting pic of your stash is optional. You can then update this "place holder" as we go along with details of what you have used, sold, exchanged and given away. 2. For each category you can include 1 item for a staple. Mark this item. You can purchase 1 staple item per category to have 1 on hand without using a pass. If you stock up on staples anything beyond 1 item must be put in your stash list. 3. Participants are allowed 1 product purchase per month 4. The idea is to decrease your stash not increase it. You are free to swap, sell, throw away and give away products to your heart’s content as long as the stash is "decreasing". The aim is to be reasonable and realize that we do not need to buy so much stuff but rather be more disciplined with our regiments and learn to establish our staples by actually using the stuff instead of continually buying more !!! 6. Also please check in every 2 weeks to let us all know how it is going and to get support so you do not fall off the challenge. 7. If you fall off the wagon, update your stash list and get back in the game. The idea is to encourage better spending habits, make wise product purchases and to gain discipline in our regimens. Paste the following info if you’re up for the challenge 1. What are your motivations for joining this challenge? 2. List the products you hope to use up in your stash. Use your own categories. Suggested Categories: - Shampoos - Conditioners - Deep Conditioners - Leave Ins/Moisturizers - Oils & Essential Oils & Butters - Herbal & Ayurvedic Products - Styling products - Other 3. Post a Pic of your "Stash". (Optional) 4. What are your goal(s) for the session i.e. – reduce my stash by 20% i.e. – to have 1 shampoo, 2 conditioners, 3 styling products, etc. [Fill in your goal] Challengers from last session (please pm me to remove you or post below) New challengers please list below to add you. Ladies lets do this! @JJamiah @Ogoma @B_Phlyy @Theresamonet @classoohfive @NikkiQ @wheezy807 @RarityFluttershy @LaidBak @Beautyu2u @Aggie @ZebraPrintLover @TrueSugar @natura87 @xu93texas @faithVA @Minty @lamaria211 @Ann0804 @Lisaaa Bonet @Meritamen @Skiggle @JeterCrazed @Keishadt @Angelinhell @Arian @greenandchic @Kindheart @JazzyOleBabe @Tonto @SunySydeofLyfe EnExitStageLeft @TrueSugar @SimJam @Angel of the North @cutenss @Golden*Brown @GrowAHead @klsjackson @Lita @missliberia @nynewyork @SimplyWhole @Carrie A @APrayer4Hair @bronzebomb @lovestarr @pink219 @temfash @uofmpanther

Please let me know when the new session starts. I seriously need to be a no buy. Thanks!!

I purchased about 14 new hair products during Black Friday/Cyber Monday. But since I find it easier to giveaway products (instead of use them up), I'm also planning to get rid of ~15 products from my stash by giving them to family.

But I've been eyeing these threads for awhile. And I plan to join for the 2014 season. I want to get down to about 10-12 staple products (for all categories).

Btw, if you ever want to feel like your product stash is more manageble, watch a few couponing stockpile videos on youtube. I'm watching one now where the lady has 25 cans of the same tresseme hair spray. Couponers go hard for real. :yep:

I've been following this thread very frustrated because I didn't have anything to post. I have finally used up some more products!

ORS Replenishing con--maybe a repurchase in the distant future
Miss Jessie's Super Sudsy Slip Shampoo--not a repurchase
ApHogee 2 Minute Reconstructor--probably a repurchase in the future

I was a little bad though. TJMaxx got me. At their prices I just couldn't pass up the Joiko K-Pak Reconstruct Conditioner or the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Conditioner.

I used up 1 v05 passion fruit. I have one more left.

Also used up 1 jessicurl DC tx. I have 2 more left. I have probably one more use of my wen summer mango coconut.

I did purchase a few items since I couldn't resist the good sales, so I will be updating my list once my items arrive.

Used up Hh Mango Cloud and The Pomade Shop Rosemary.

Sent from my Snow White Frost Galaxy S4

Used up my MHC honey nut scalp cleanser. I don't plan to repurchase. It was cleansing, but still semi - stripping.

I'll be giving away some products very soon, my stash is getting to me current pic

Selling or giving away Oyin Honey Hemp. I used to love that conditioner, but it is not working for me the way it used to.

Did leave-in comparison yesterday with every leave-in and moisturizer in my stash. My hair doesn't seem to care too much about which leave-in I use. They all performed between a 5 and 7 on wet hair. Now I will be testing to see what works well on dry hair.

Starting to fill up my give away box. Giving away Hairveda Creme Rinse Hydrating Hair Cleanser. It's nice but I have enough cleansers.

Giving away Aubrey Calguala Fern Leave In Conditioning Treatment. I was excited to try this. It felt great going on but it flaked when I took down my twist. I've never seen a product flake by itself. I didn't use any other products with it.

Giving away S-Curl. I really can't see when I would use this. Most of my leave-ins have glycerin in them. I would just dilute them and use them. S-curl still makes my hair sticky unless I really dilute it.

Giving away Hairveda Whipped Cream Ends. I like this product on dry hair but it makes my hair sooo sticky. I could dilute it. But there is only a little left. So I will let it be a sample to whomever I give the box to.

My mom had a hydrathermal naturals set in her closet. So I added that to my stash as well. There are at least 6 products. I will add them to my list later when I write down the names.

My stash has never been this big as long as I have been on this board  But most of it is either samples or someone gave it to me. I still have Hairveda products coming; the Ayurvedic Green Bag and a sample bag.

Will definitely been in this challenge next round.

I first joined this challenge in 2012 because I wanted to have just 10 products in total I use on my hair. This is the closest I have ever been. I only bought from two companies on BF (well three, but the third one kindly granted me a refund when I explained it was an impulse buy and I would not be able to use the product anytime soon and was worried about it going bad). I just need to remain focused and not give into temptation to spend.

I have only 5 products to use up to get me to the 10 number and 4 are conditioners so they will go quickly. Two of those 5 are staples I am downgrading to 'treats'. I will join the 2014 challenge as the PJ version of an AA support group to keep me on track

Girl,
That support group made me spend so much on CM. :lachen: I hadn't bought anything on BF and they asked if I was well. Then they Started talking about hauls. Sigh, it was over for me at that point.

*whispers* They make my weak self buy more with their descriptions of yummy products.

I can't see any mentions on my IPhone. PM me if it is a must see. Allons y

I guess I should clarify before I get too much praise - 10 different products, but I have back ups to the back ups to the back ups for some of them . My next hurdle is not buying 6 of one conditioner because the reviews sound nice or I tried it once and liked it or I remembered how much I liked it. I need to limit myself to how many oz I can get per purchase.

I am talking about this particular Use Up challenge .

Used up 1 Wen summer mango coconut. I have 1 left in my stash, but another is on the way since I picked up the wen seasonal 5 pack.

I'm nearly done with my SM Yucca thickening mist, and my JBCO.

I looked at the hydrathermal natural products this morning and put them in the give away box. They were not speaking to me :ohwell:

I'm wearing my hair out for now. I should be able to go through more products.

I won't be repurchasing the terressentials. I am removing that from my staples. I will only use mud on my scalp and I have a jar of bentonite clay for that. They don't sell the 4 Naturals Shampoo locally any more so I will remove that from my staples. I will make the AIA Cleansing pudding a staple and I will need one more regular shampoo.

The SM Restorative Conditioner will become a staple. It works great as a conditioner and a leave-in for my hair. I still like AIA. And I need to play around with the KKNT to see how to use it for my hair.

I have a whole lot of stylers now so I need to get busy styling

^^faithVA what styles are you thinking about doing?

Right now I'm switching between curlformer sets, flat twist outs and twist outs. And I'm probably going to try some rod sets since I bought some perm rods. Nothing exciting. It's different for me though because I have always worn my hair in twists and only out the day before wash day.

Oh,
This is a real support group?

Ummm, :perplexed: dithering. Ummm.....

I can't see any mentions on my IPhone. PM me if it is a must see. Allons y

I REALLY like this thread. I know it's not just me and some of these posts are just too funny!

Now that I won't be cowashing, or at least not regularly, what will I do with all these cheapie conditioners? Are they good enough to use after using a protein conditioner or do I have to stick to my full out moisturizing cons afterward?

You can prepoo with them or use them for detangling.

Ogoma

Just curious - what are your ten products? :) you're living the dream!

Aisha89 Thanks. I am not there yet, but soon. Still have to test 3 conditioners to see if one will be a cheaper, on the ground, alternative to the CJ Smoothing Conditioner. I use a lot of conditioner! I also have two other products to use up first.

1) Lush Fair Trade Honey Shampoo
2) Trader Joe Tea Tree Tingle - cowashing
3) CJ Smoothing Conditioner (testing two other conditioners that are cheaper and available locally that might take its place) - rinse out
4) CJ Repair Me - protein
5) Oyin Hair Dew - Leave-in/moisturizer
6) DB Transitioning Creme - Leave-in/moisturizer
7) DB Cocoa Whip - Moisturizer/Cream styler
8) Komaza Care Califia/Aloe My Hair Cream (interchangeable to me) - sealant
9) Xtreme Gel
10) Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Gelly

* I will mix a co-cleansing conditioner that will include some of the products listed so I don't consider it a separate product.

I am talking about the use I buy 1 thread. And I need to cut down on my hauling but, I hate running out. I feel better with my stash.

I didn't realize y'all were really cutting back. I am all a dither because I should too but I can't imagine how. When I try, I run out and then have to WAIT on these SALOOOOW vendors to ship and meanwhile my hair is crying.

I just realized why I haul. I hate waiting for my products or waiting for products to be back in stock.

If I could buy in a store I wouldn't need a stash.

Eta: I am hopeless

I can't see any mentions on my IPhone. PM me if it is a must see. Allons y

I tried to hang out in that thread a few times but I couldn't seem to get a feel for it. That may have been before I starting buying stuff.

If what you are buying are staples, I really don't consider that a stash. But I have seen some people who have like 50 staples and then buy 6 of each

When I finally get all my staples I will probably buy a years worth at one time. Walgreen has SM Restorative Conditioner fo 4.99, if I didn't have so much stuff I would just buy 6 bottles. But I hate having my cabinets overflowing so I have to wait. But next year :yep: I will be stocking up.

Trying to moisturize daily for the next 30 to 60 days. Tonight I used the Duafe tea and then used the AO gel to style. Hopefully it will turn out nicely. I only have a little of the tea left, probably not even 1 more use.
