Sorry ladies, I was unaware about the dangers of Fotki. I've added my pics at the bottom.

I introduced myself yesterday, fresh out of lurkdom. Well tonight I tried my new Skala shampoo and condish (eh, might not be for me). Well after I put the condish on, I got the "BC" bug that I had to satisfy alittle. I snipped a few relaxed strands from a couple areas. Now I am wondering if I will even have a curl.

I put both S-curl and Kinky-Curly "Knot Today" on it (at separate times, then together). I have nothing going on!!!!!! Then on top of that, I think I have two different textures, so I have no idea what to do with my hair.:wallbash: So I then sat under the dryer on a light setting til my hair was about 85-90% dry (I put coconut oil on it too) My hair doesn't feel hard right now but its definitely "tight" at the roots :lachen:

So my first question is: Can ANYONE tell what my hair texture is? Or do I need more new growth to get a better determination. I had my last relaxer in early November 2009 so I'm not THAT far post however this is the longest I've ever gone. I am fully transitioning with NO desire to ever relax.

Please if you have any comment, recommendations, or encouraging words  I'd greatly appreciate it.

Products used: Kinky Curly - Knot Today, S-Curl and coconut oil.

I'm a lil confused. Did you cut off the entire relaxed portion of your hair and your hair didn't curl up at all?

Do you use heat often? Because maybe you're not seeing a curl due to heat damage on the area.
Do you think maybe the hair/curls were weighed down by the products?

It seems the best way to get hair typing is on naked hair with no relaxed bits on the ends.

I'm bad at hair typing so I can't really tell you anything but some other girls seem to be good guessers. How long have you been transitioning?

I say just BC girl and start the natural journey.....(not that u asked, lol)

No I just cut around my ear and nape areas. I had conditioner on so I could distinguish between the relaxed and natural hair. In the past I have flat ironed alot but I try not to now.

The products I used were light and I used them sparingly (or so I felt) but that could very well be the issue.

I reaaaaallly want to BC but I also don't want to be bald either. Not a good look on me.

I think that the KC products work best for 100% natural hair...As a long term transitioner, I used roller sets and blowouts to minimize damage from the two textures. I didn't really start toying with "natural" styles until I was 85 to 90% natural...Hope This Helps...

Its looks like you have a very loose curl, more like a wave. I'm not sure the type but I'm guessing 3 something. I'm sure other ladies will chime in :)

Good luck on transitioning!

I tried putting a few rollers in last night and they came out really cute. I will definitely get roller sets done. Thank you a bunch.

Hmmm...looking at your pics, I'd definitely say you are in the type 3 range, maybe even 3a/b, but your nape appears to be 3c/4a

See that's one thing I knew for sure, that I have different textures UP IN THERE lol. Because the back forms some tight curls/coils (which I love). This texture on top needs to get to it LOL

I am an impatient Aries LOL
